Powerful and emotional! You'll never hit the FFWD button!, April 1, 1999

Fernandez' voice takes you from the "tristeza" of unrequited love to indomitable euphoria (often in the same song). "Sin fe y Sin Religion" is the best cut of the CD. You'll want to personally hunt down Fernandez' ex-amante and tell her off yourself! When you hear "Dime a que santo de le Rezas" you'll imagine yourself standing shoulder to shoulder with the other mariachis singing, "Ay Serrana" at the top of your lungs. Ironically, the title cut, "Statua de Marfil" dragged and lacked the "machismo" characteristic of Fernandez' music.
