3.0 out of 5 stars Fun but cheaply made., June 29, 2008

I bought this at Wal-mart last week for $49. Assembly took about 15 minutes without any tools needed. I went out to a nearby soccer field to take it up for a spin. The plane does fly pretty fast and was fun to fly. My biggest complaint is the lack of control. You can only control the two propellers which limits your ability to go up and down and left and right. On more expensive models you can control the rudder, ailerons, and elevators. During my third flight the plane did a nose dive into the ground and cracked the wing. (The instructions warn not to fly in winds over five miles per hour and there was a little bit of wind that day.)If a 25-year-old has trouble flying it then a 10-year-old kid probably will too!

2.0 out of 5 stars not as good as it looks., November 18, 2010
= Durability:1.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:3.0 out of 5 stars

i got it as a birthday gift years back, and the plane looks great, but thats about it. there is a serious lack of control with this plane in the sky, and on my first flight, it went up, just dived right up (not much wind, like 3-6 mph max) and dove right back down.

but the biggest reason to why i would never recommend this, or any estes airplanes is because there planes are all designed to cut off power to both engines after 1.5 seconds of input, and those of us who don't fly planes that do that, end up stalling the plane, and i think thats exactly what happened when i first launched it. it took off great, but 25 seconds into the flight, it charged up, stalled and dove right back down.

and i wouldn't recommend Air Hogs either, they're overpriced. if you go to X-Heli or their partner plane site, you can get helicopters that do what air hogs only dreams of doing, for a much cheaper price.

just in general, stay away from this plane. it will break on first crash, it has a lack of control, its turning technique is set for failure. i'd only recommend it if you're looking for a cheap plane to modify like mad (as in changing out or reprogramming the ESC, adding elevator and ailerons and rudder to it.)
