Product Description

Estes model rocket engines are simply the best! We have been making rocket engines for over 50 years. Estes developed the first machine to mass produce solid propellant model rocket engines which gave rocketeers a consistent and reliable way to launch rockets. Because of our quality and reliability, Estes engines are considered by many to be the standard in the model rocket industry.

These are the engines to start with if you are new to model rockets and have a standard(not mini) engine powered model. They are low power and will let you get a sense of how far your rocket will travel and how much space you need before you move on to bigger engines. The price works out to more than $2 a launch so if you expect a lot of launches buy in bulk.

My advice to novices is to always do your first launch of any model with the lowest power motor that will fit unless you live in the desert or farm country and have the luxury of lots of treeless open space

This size engine was recommened if you did not want to lose your rocket and after using them, I can see why. They go plenty high enough for our local park in a light breeze. Any higher and I'm sure we would have lost the rocket.

We bought these for two Estes 1491 Taser Launch Set rockets. They work great, and come with everything you need for launching. Recommended.

Excellent engines as they were 40 years ago. But the provided igniters are far inferior to what they used to be. The bonding element between the wires is now flimsy and brittle, causing them to break, burn up without an ignition, or disintegrate upon insertion into the engine. Estes perhaps has done this to sell extra igniters since only 3 are provided in each pack. If anyone has a DIY igniter method please post it and help these poor kids get their rockets launched.

Perfect for shooting a rocket off in the city...doesn't go to high so it doesn't drift into yards or on rooftops.

I've been using Estes Rockets and engines since I was 12 years old and took my first aerospace class. Never a complaint and I'll keep using them.

I purchased these with the Rascal/Hi-Jinx rockets for my son. I will be purchasing more in the near future! He had a blast, and honestly... so did I!
