About the Author
John S. Page has wide experience in cost and labor estimating, having worked for some of the largest construction firms in the world. He has made and assembled numerous types of estimates including lump-sum, hard-priced, and scope, and has conducted many time and method studies in the field and in fabricating shops. Mr. Page has a B.S. in civil engineering from the University of Arkansas and received the Award of Merit from the American Association of Cost Engineers in recognition of outstanding service and cost engineering.

An estimating book for all industry,

I have used this book since 1986. It has been the cornerstone of my pipe estimating. It is easy to use and in most cases you can narrow a seemingly complicated estimating job down to a few tables. I recommend this book to any estimator charged with providing accurate budgets in industrial construction.
The book addresses carbon steel, stainless steel Heavy wall, large O.D. Staging, Insulation, Pipe Hangers and more. The Author goes into detail in a clear and concise method about how to structure your estimate and provides a sample estimating sheet. Even though the estimating sheet is about 30 yrs old. I have set one up in excel to match his format and it works beautifully. A must book for any pipe estimator. Tim Griffin - Tampa Florida

This book is still the benchmark manual for accurate man-hour takeoffs in the piping industry and the only improvement will be when it is published in a metric measurement version as well as this Imperial measurement standard. This manual is used in places other than the USA and the rest of the world is Metric.

I have used this book since the first addition and give it out to all new engineers coming into the pipeline industry, when they are envolved in costs for new piping projects.
