5.0 out of 5 stars Estoy aquí queriéndolo, ahogándome entre fotos y cuadernos.., October 1, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Estoy Aqui (Audio CD)
I would definitely recommend this song for the beginner at Spanish. If you're dying to learn the language, this song will teach you the basic uses of the basic verb tenses (present, present progressive, and preterite) as well as the present subjunctive tense, which I'm told does not exist in English. This is a great song. It's about heart break, like usual. She starts the song by describing how she hides the pain ("Mil años no me alcanzarán para borrárte y olvidar.."), but quickly changing to how she really feels inside ("..Y ahora estoy aquí, queriendo convertir los campos en ciudad, mezclando el cielo con el mar.."). I discovered Shakira a few months before her Laundry Service album had been released, and heard good things about her songs "Estoy Aquí" and "Ojos Así", so I went out and bought the albums they were on. If you are a hard core Shakira fan, you must have this one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Song, March 5, 2002

This is a great song whether you understand the words or not. It will draw you in to Shakira's music if you haven't already been. If you can learn to sing along, you will have mastered Spanish pronounciation. If you're not into that just sit back and enjoy a classic. Let's keep the Alanis Morisette comparisons to a minimum. Just because they're female and sing about break-ups doesn't make them musically alike.

4.0 out of 5 stars Estoy Aqui, November 18, 2005
This review is from: Estoy Aqui (Audio CD)
in english this song says ill wait a million years for you to come back...and that it will take a million years to forgive and forget..and that she is the one who made the mistake...and how the notebooks and memories wont let her forget. And that she is still here waiting but knows that he wont come back and wont forgive and forget...but she will wait a million more years for him.

this is very pop sounding spanish music, and is from the older shakira from her teen years.

I first heard this song in Spanish class, even though it's in spanish, it's a very good song...she sounds like a spanish speaking alanis morrisette. :) I'm not sure i would pay $$$ for it though.
