If The Estrogen Alternative: A Guide To Natural Hormonal Balance sounds familiar, that's because this is a completely updated fourth edition of a classic, providing the latest research and information on how HRT therapy can provide a natural solution to hormone deficiency. Misinformation and common misconceptions are discussed, chapters provide a gentle push to natural alternative therapies, and current controversies in women's health are surveyed. The Estrogen Alternative: A Guide to Natural Hormonal Balance
By Raquel Martin and Judi Gerstrung, DC I really enjoyed this well-researched and informative book on hormone balance. The authors clearly present many of the complicated issues surrounding menopause. I would not hesitate to recommend this resource to my menopausal patients, as well as add it to my own reference library.Robyn Barlow, ND, Lotus Guide, [...] Chico

The author repeats herself again and again and everything could have been said in about half the space, however, the information is very valuable so I do recommend reading this book.

I wish my Doctor would read this book,

Progesterone Cream has given me my life back! I really wish more medical doctors would read this information instead of listening to the pharmaceutical representatives who come knocking at their doors. I HAVE READ Dr. Lee's books and he is the pioneer of this subject. This book is also good and expands on many of his studies making them more up to date. More women need this information to help learn how they can lessen signs and symptoms of menopause and the side effects that prescription medications can bring. Great book!

Progesterone cream is not the answer!,
By cam (Portland, OR) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Estrogen Alternative: A Guide to Natural Hormonal Balance (Paperback)
The author is sold on the idea that progesterone cream is the answer to all women's menopausal symptoms. Good points are made throughout about the negative effects of estrogen replacement. There are also negative side effects from the use of progesterone cream. Only towards the very end of the book is respect paid to diet and eating whole foods. This information is the key to healthy hormone levels. Even if the progesterone comes from a "natural" source, it still is interfering with the regulation of hormones. It is true that we are living in a sea of estrogen, but balancing that with more progesterone is like throwing the baby out with the bath water. The only natural progesterone is that which our body makes, and it stops making it for a reason. We were not meant to be "forever feminine." Please note that any progesterone added to the body in cream form stays in the subcultaneous tissue long after the cream is stopped therefore still affecting hormone levels. Progesterone should only be given in extreme cases or when a hysterectomy has been performed. A valuable resource is Dr. Janet Lang's website and Female Hormone Seminars which gives valid support for why this is not the cure all. Too many women are looking for the quick fix and that is why a book like this gives hope. There is no quick fix. Healthy diet equals healthy hormones.
