Hot Flashes are GONE!!!
on July 6, 2011
I am 47 but had a partial hysterectomy two years ago (kept ovaries). They had told me that they hysterectomy would probably cause me to go into menopause earlier than without, but I thought I'd get more than two years! Anyways......I had been getting night sweats for a couple of months but I was managing through it even though I was definitely not getting the sleep I needed. However, when the flashes during the day started about a month ago, I knew I needed to do something. The hot flashes were coming hourly and although they only lasted for a minute or two, if I didn't have access to a fan to cool my face immediately, I would literally begin sweating immediately from my face down to my body. I have a fairly high profile job with a lot of interaction with people, presentations, etc. and the thought of going through an uncontrolable hot flash and start sweating was pretty concerning. I started taking Estroven Extra Strengh on June 19th and did not see immediate results. In fact, I think the flashes got worse. I read reviews and saw that for many people it took at least 3-4 weeks before they saw results. For me it was 2 weeks and I saw a reduction in the number of hot flashes but more importantly, a reduction in the intesity. Instead of getting the hot flashes hourly, I am now getting about 4-5 during the day and maybe two at night. The flashes during the day come on similarly, but I don't end up sweating and I doubt anyone can tell it's happening. At night they still might wake me up and make me kick off the covers, but I'm not completely wet and I'm able to get back to sleep fairly easily.
Since it's only been a little over 2 weeks for me, I will try to come back after a month to see if there is any further improvement. Although I'd love for the hot flashes and night sweats to be completely gone, I can deal with them as they are now and Estroven has been a godsend! I know it may not work for everyone but I'm thrilled that it's working for me.
UPDATE: 10 days later -- I have updated my review and changed my rating from 4 to 5 stars. The hot flashes are GONE. About two days after I wrote the initial review, I stopped having hot flashes at all -- day and night. It's amazing! In just under 3 weeks of taking Estroven. Even though I just started having hot flashes/night sweats for about a month prior to using the product, they were consuming my life. I was so stressed that I'd start having one right in the middle of an important presentation, etc. but now I don't even have to think about it. So glad it worked for me. Amazon has a great price for the Extra Strength and I know that Costco currently carries it at a similar price but they change what they stock often so Amazon may be more reliable long term.
UPDATE: 5 months later -- Since I've seen many reviews where Estroven didn't work longer term, I wanted to let people know that it is still working well for me. I did have a set back due to my own fault. I hate taking medicine -- really hate it. Since I started with the Extra Strength formula, I wondered if I could possibly scale back and get the same results. I was taking the 2 pill extra-strength formula (Amazon and Costco pack) so I started taking only 1 1/2 pills for a week or so. Since I was still getting good results, I went down to 1 1/4 pills and finally down to just one pill. Seemed ok at first, but then I did start getting the night sweats again. So I started back up to 2 pills but continued to get night sweats and even started getting some flashing during the day. Nothing like I was going through before, but I was so scared I was back to square 1. Luckily, after about 5-6 weeks of taking the regular 2 pill dose, I'm back to no more flashing -- day or night. My advice: if it's working for you, don't stop taking it and keep the recommended dose! If you stop taking it or lower the dose it does appear to take longer for it to kick back in if symptoms reoccur. When I first started taking it took about 3 weeks to get sympton free -- the second time it took more than a month...... I'm hoping it works long term because I just bought 3 boxes at Costco last month since they featured a $7 coupon on it so I got the 98 count for $14!
UPDATE: 11 months later -- Still getting good results on Estroven. I did start to have some reoccurance of symptons and started taking an additional half dose of Extra Strength in the evening based on some reviews from others where they were recommended by their doctor to keep a steady stream of the product in their system. So I take a full dose of Extra Strength in the morning and then a 1/2 dose 12 hours later. Another thing I've noticed for me is that I really have to be careful to keep the product in my system. If I go vary several hours in dosage, I may start getting some isolated symptons again. It kind of reminds me of when I was on birth control pills. If you were not disciplined in taking your pills exactly at the same time everyday, you may experience break through bleeding. That is what happens to me sometimes -- for me it is critical to have a very consistent flow of Estroven in me to keep the flashing gone.
UPDATE: 2 years later -- Still having great results! I now take the 1 pill dose extra strength formula but take it twice a day and have been for the past year. Up until about 5 months ago, if I wasn't completely disciplined in taking the pills every 12 hours, I might have some issue, but lately I have not had ANY hot flashes at all and I've even gone almost 24 hours between dosages. I'm almost tempted to scale back but don't want to mess with it the results!
