Tom Varley is a very talented musician with an apparent passion for a laid back lifestyle clearly reflected in his music. The guitar work is tight, and the harmonies are good. Influences of Buffet are in evidence but no attempt is made to impersonate the consummate "trop' rocker". Additionally, a particularly tight cover of "The Joker" shows Tom's versatility. The only minor disappointment would be the lack of emotional currency beneath the hot licks. The songs depicting sailing experiences show the most emotional authenticity on the album. Tom forges his own path with musical renderings that are both original and innovative. The mellow vocals evoke a free-spirited purity, undiluted by cynicism. This album is a breath of fresh air with lots of musical promise for future recordings.

Just got back from a driving trip through Baja in my VW bus (pet a baby grey whale). ETA: Manana is so in tune to the Baja pace and soul. Can listen over and over again as the songs fit right into the long remote drive (like sailing). I found Tom to be fresher than Jimmy. A must have for the hang loose traveler.

This CD is a real blessing and wonderful addition to my music collection. The music is very calming to the Soul but also inspiring as well. I can play this CD over and over and get something new each time I hear it. Tom has a real gift with the lyrics that appear in the songs on the different tracts. They speak directly to the heart and soul. The variety of songs not only lift one's mood but can calm one down if that is needed.

Tom is a very talented singer/songwriter. This group should go far since they speak directly to the heart.
