Las canciones de este album hacen una buena combinación de nuestras canciones tradicionales y nuestra version en español de las tradicionales extranjeras. A mi me encanta Los peces en el rio y Adeste fideles en voz de Mijares. Para los niños tambien es muy bueno. A mi hija de dos años le gusta este album.

This is a fabulous album, especially for Spanish teachers. Some of the songs are traditional (in the US) and students can relate to them, while others are traditionally hispanic. It makes a wonderful addition to any collection. I've been listening to it for nearly 10 years and I still enjoy it.

This seems to be the only currently available CD featuring Raphael's first recording of "El Niño del Tambor" , the spanish version of "Carol of the drum" , here shown as "El tamborilero". Raphael recorded this , along with four other Christmas carols , in the 1960's , and to this day they remain some of the most beautiful Christmas recordings made in spanish. The other four carols were Silent Night (Noche de Paz) , Blanca Navidad (White Christmas ) and a traditional spanish carol , "Campanas de Plata" , sung here by another performer. Many Raphael's recordings have been issued in CD , but sadly these haven't , or if they have they must be very hard to find. Spanish speakers over 35 will surely recognize Raphael's version as "the" spanish version for this carol . However I suggest non-spanish speakers to try this recording just to compare Raphael's performance with any other you wish ; I'm sure you will like it.The arrangements are simply sublime , almost mystical , and Raphael's voice was at his peak in the 1960's . International singers like no less than Frank Sinatra held Raphael in high regard. Recently he has made a full CD with Christmas songs , including a new recording of the same Carol of the Drum , but he is now in his 60's and his voice is simply not the same.

As for the rest of the songs , this album will bring warm memories to Spanish speakers who grew up in the 1980's and early 1990's. Pandora and Mijares were also at their peak for these recordings.
