From the Author

Dear Readers,
You know who I am. The veana who refuses to be contained, refuses to be ruled, refuses to be loved. The veana who has from an early age been different from her kind, a cast off -- and perhaps reveled in it a little too much. I was taken in, true. It was a better fate than most of my mutore brethren received. Most were thrown out like trash or killed before they could take another breath. But in that saving grace that was my adoption, I grew to see the ugly truth in others.
It is a question I ask myself often: Would it have been better to go the way of my mutore brothers and sisters? A quick and shallow grave... Or was I saved for some reason? For some one?
Gray...
He comes to mind, has since the day we met at the Romans', far too often and intensely. It is as though my body, my...beast, recognizes him. I have never been able to deny my beast when it scratches its desire on my unbeating heart.
But will he accept me when he knows the truth of who and what I am?
Will he help me, as only he can?
You're thinking I don't deserve someone like him after how I've behaved, aren't you? But understand this, I don't set out to hurt him. It's just with Gray...with whatever it is between us --fireworks, dynamite, admiration...I can't seem to let him walk out of my life.
Your selfish and Eternal Beast,
Dillon

I absolutely loved this book, but be beware this is not a stand alone you have to have read the other books in the series. I love how she brings the other characters back from the previous books. I hate I have to wait until May 2013 for the next book.

All I can say is WOW!! After I read Eternal Captive, the third book in the MARK OF THE VAMPIRE Series, I thought "it just can't get any better than this"! Then I was extremely lucky and got to read Laura's upcoming release, Eternal Beast very early and Hot Damn!! Laura Wright has done it again and totally blew me away. This book is by far the EPIC book of the series and everything changes in the world of the Purebloods, Impures and Mutores.

In the enovella "Eternal Blood" Gray learned that his father, Jeremy Donohue was the leader of the Impure Resistance. Now Gray has a new purpose in his life. He has become the new Leader of the Impure Resistance and will do anything to save the Impures from being Blood Castrated and controlled by the Order. He's just got one problem....he can't let Dillon go.

Dillon is still recovering from the horrible beating the Senator and his men gave her. She's stuck in her "other" form and cannot shift back. She seeks Grays helping and in doing so they become even closer, which is something that scares the hell out of Dillon. Dillon has to make a choice; let Gray in or push him away forever.

That's all I'm going to say on the storyline. SO much happens and I don't want to give away any more details of the story. I will say this though.....Gray and Dillon are SMOKIN' HOT together!!
We also get to see more of the other members of the Impure Resistance (Rio, Vincent & Piper) and we gets LOTS more of the Mutore in this book. We learn more about the beasts; Lycos, Helo, Phane & Erion. The ending of this book leads into Erion's book, which is coming up next and I am DYING to learn more about him.

If you still have not experienced the awesomeness that is the Mark of the Vampire Series you are truly missing out.

What an amazing story. Laura Wright is one of the best authors ever!!! Her characters are so realistic and so damn sexy. If you haven't.read any of the previous books in this series,.i strongly recommend them. You will surely fall in love with the Roman brothers, their mates, and the mutores. These books are packed with action, romance, pain, discovery, and sure to love dramatic ending. I can't wait for the next book Eternal Demon.

Eternal Beat by Laura Wright
Paranormal Romance - Aug. 7th, 2012
4 stars

In Eternal Beast is the latest in the exciting Mark of the Vampire series but can easily be read as a stand alone.

Gray Donohue is a vampire who wants nothing more than to free Impure vampires. But he is distracted by the lovely vampire/shifter Dillon. Dillon saved him but for some reason he cannot forget her even as she constantly rejects him. When she is violated he takes revenge but Dillon is angered by his kill for she wanted to kill the man who betrayed her. In addition, since her humiliation she cannot control her shift from jaguar to normal vampire. She hates that she feels powerless. And although she does care for Gray, her history of abuse puts a huge wall around her emotions. She wants Dillon but is unwilling to open herself up and be a `wimpy' female. But circumstances force them together and Dillon will soon realize how much Gray means to her.

I liked how the author expands her series to include the `misfits' in the vampire community. They have been discriminated against and suffered greatly. I could not help but feel sympathetic towards Dillon's brothers and can't wait to read about each of their individual stories. Dillon is one tough heroine. She avoids Gray and in no way wants any relationship. Her history of abuse makes her wary of Gray even as she finds herself drawn to him. Gray knows Dillon is the woman he craves but Dillon's reluctance to from a relationship frustrates him. Sometimes I couldn't believe that Dillon ignored what the highly worthy Gray offered. But she finally gets some sense and realizes how important Gray is to her life. Then the story gets better. Dillon is filled with so much angst it was sometimes difficult to like her.

One of the things I absolutely love about Laura Wright is her ability to give us a complete story. Each of her books may focus on a different couple, but all the characters are involved in the plot in some way and the overall story arc has had a continuous flow from book one and takes the books to a whole other level.

Dillon and Gray have been the couple I have been waiting for. I was not sure it was ever going to happen though because Dillon is so stubborn! She has had a very difficult past though, and has been burned so many times that she has spent her life shutting down her emotions. She does not want to feel anything because if she doesn't then no one can hurt her. She also has the Order searching for her because of her status as a mutore, which is a pureblood vampire shape-shifter. They are considered the lowest form of life and are often killed after birth. Not exactly something that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside if you happen to be one.

Gray on the other hand does not want to tame his feelings. He is loyal, passionate and fights for what he believes in. He knows he can help Dillon deal with what she is going through, but she never lets him get close enough to try. He wants to help her so badly, but her constant rejection is turning him cold and he is not sure how much longer he can wait for her to trust him.

Watching these two struggle with trying to be strong on their own but be together was tough. They did not have many obstacles in their way except internal ones. Both of them did not know if they could truly trust the other and it was hard for them to work through that barrier. It took time, but they slowly started opening up to one another and towards the end they experienced some truly heart wrenching moments together.
