3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting concept, disjointed execution
I do enjoy the idea behind this book (if I didn't it would be a one star), but honestly, where and how did love happen in this book? Lust I can definately see. Ms. Bangs decribes the actions, but doesn't really communicate the development of feelings. If this woman is predestined as his mate, why is she predestined? Why is she "the one"? What part of the hero is...

5.0 out of 5 stars Book 2 of THE GODS OF THE NIGHT series, June 7, 2009
This review is from: Eternal Craving (Leisure Paranormal Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Great read - second book in the THE GODS OF THE NIGHT series.

The heroine of book 1 [Eternal Pleasure] sister's has come to visit - in truth she's there to check out the new husband and the guys he works with. She finds guys who are as gorgeous as they are dangerous... and discovers her experiences with tabloid journalism haven't even skimmed the highlights of the REAL supernatural world.

The hero is Al, a man with soul of an allosuarus and anger management issues. He and the heroine are pitchforked together by the leader of the group, a man whose visions say the heroine is the key to saving this piece of the world. She finds Al both terrifying and fascinating [she'd better, he's the hero] and her protection against the mean streets of supernatural Philadelphia.

Nina Bangs does a great job of mixing dinosaurs [keep the internet handy - you will want to look each of the guys up!], Mayan mythos, doomsday scenarios, along with the 'regular' supernaturals found in most paranormal romances [demons and shifters and vamps, OH MY!]

Eternal Pleasure(Gods of the Night, Book 1)

5.0 out of 5 stars Eternally Entertaining, May 17, 2009
This review is from: Eternal Craving (Leisure Paranormal Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Nina Bangs has a wicked imagination and her Gods of the Night series proves it once again. I mean, who else would come up with preditors with the souls of...dinosaurs? So this time around our hero's been celibate for millions of years. Talk about sexual tension! And the heroine who's called on to help him save the world from certain destruction is anything but kick-butt and eager. The two together though get sparks flying and manage to take on everything from a really creepy evil-doer to vampires in this action-packed story. Of course there's the classic Bangs' love story that will leave you sighing. Don't miss book 2 in the Gods of the Night series. Eternal Pleasure was book 1, but you don't have to read it first to enjoy this one. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars 4.5 stars - Bangs has hit her stride and has me Craving more of these Eternal protectors, May 26, 2009
This review is from: Eternal Craving (Leisure Paranormal Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Eternal Craving is the second sortie in the battle to prevent the 2012 end of the world for humankind and another of the eleven gods of midnight, gorgeous lethal males with ancient predatory souls, finds his mate. If you are a Bangs fan new to The Gods of Midnight series, you should be warned that these books are missing Bangs' usual humorous tone - this series is definitely on the dark side of paranormal fantasy and there are some fairly gory scenes to show the magnitude of evil our unusual protectors of humanity are up against.

But darkness aside, Eternal Craving's appeal is in its bad boy goes good type of theme. And there isn't a badder a bad boy than leading man Al who has a human form but a soul of a dangerous terrifying primative beast, a beast that he has only grudgingly and only tenuously leashed. I loved watching heroine Jenna tame the raging primal Al as lust opens the door to the humanizing power of love. And it is the gradual humanizing of Al, and his struggle to cope with new human feelings along with Jenna's transition from a primal terror to love and trust of Al which makes Eternal Craving work so much better for me than the first book,Eternal Pleasure (Leisure Paranormal Romance).

If you haven't yet read Eternal Pleasure, the large cast may be daunting. Thankfully Bangs still isn't throwing all eleven of her large cast of hotter than hot dangerous males at us at once but is still parceling them out a few at a time. This time it's the terrifying triplets, lethal Lio, and Q who actually seems to have a sense of humor. Ty, Kelly, Sier and the vampire Jude are back as well. We also get more of the most dangerous of the bunch, leader Finn, still as enigmatic as ever but a bit worse for wear as we see some limits to his almost godlike powers, I wonder if he gets a book too.

For me I am happy that in Eternal Cravings Bangs has managed to move past the birthing pains of the series and I am really starting to enjoy watching as the beauties tame these savage beasts while saving the world and giving us more glimpses at the secrets still to be unveiled as the count down continues to the end of the world.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another hot dinosaur adventure worth reading, January 4, 2011
This review is from: Eternal Craving (Leisure Paranormal Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Another hot dinosaur adventure worth reading. I found this one better then the first book. It has all the predicaments as the first just pumped up more, this one carries some sad moments and more humor. You get to learn more about the Mayan prediction and more about Fin and who wouldn't want to know more about gorgeous Fin;). I really like the new character additions Bangs adds in this book, I think it will be interesting to see them grow.

Few sopilers
Jenna is Kelly's sister and also a tabloid writer, so you know she knows things that goes bump into the night or does she really? When she sees Al change into a Allosaurus and kills one night, she loses it and runs for cover and calls her sister for the explanation. Its Fin and Al that does the explaining, not Kelly.

So far both women Fin has brought in holds a key to bringing down the next trip home. This one Jenna holds the key for the eighth. Fin also finds Jenna like her sister is one that asks to many questions. It is always interesting to read to see how much the woman can get out of the man like Fin that holds all the secrets.

Al has issues keeping his emotions under control, for one he loves to kill and Jenna sees this in his eyes every time. It makes it interesting to read how Al is going to handle a lady with loads of questions. He soon finds out she is not one that will let a prehistoric dinosaur to stand in here way to get the answers either.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read, December 8, 2010
This review is from: Eternal Craving (Leisure Paranormal Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
The battle that began in Houston, to stop "the Nine" from destroying mankind, has moved on to Philadelphia. `Nine' has been banished to the cosmos, to wait another sixty five million years for the next chance to create chaos. Fin has brought the Gods of the Night to Philly to find and stop `Eight' from succeeding where his comrade in destruction failed. When investigative (tabloid) reporter Jenna Maloy comes looking for her sister, she gets so much more than she bargained for.

Jenna has written about alien abduction stories, and many other weird tales as well, but she never thought she would be living one of those stories. First there's something, well, different about her sister's new husband and his friends. When Jenna discovers that there are many things to fear, and they are all real, she is stunned. Vampires, demons and werewolves are just the tip of the iceberg in this new world she has fallen into.

Then she meets Al Endeka, and the attraction is so far over the top, she doesn't know what to believe. Can Jenna really be the key to stopping Eight, just as her sister stopped Nine? Can she soothe the beast in Al, and accept what he offers? Will all of the Gods of the Night survive this battle with Eight and his minions?

This is the second book in the Gods of the Night series, and it is just as action packed as the first. The characters continue to fascinate and draw me in to the story, this time with the added tension of a possible vampire political upheaval along with the search for the evil `Eight' and the rising passion between our hero and heroine. Nina Bangs has done a marvelous job of mixing fantasy with real locations, and keeping the reader on the edge throughout the story.

Jenna Maloy is a tabloid reporter, suspicious by nature and determined to find the story behind her sister's sudden marriage and move. She is resilient, and learns to roll with the changes as each new paranormal creature proves to be real. I got a kick out of her reaction when she finally realized she was sitting on the greatest expose of her career, and she couldn't publish a word of it. I also loved that along with her courage at accept all that Al is, she was also smart enough to not tell him what she thought would hurt him.

Al is the least `civilized' of the ten at first. He doesn't want to be human, and has to practice at control. But he vows to protect Jenna, and as he spends time with her, he begins to respect and then to care for her. Of course, he is the image of the `bad boy' type: long hair, scruffy jeans and all. And the man is sin on two legs. All of the characters in these books, the males anyway, are perfectly created for maximum hottage.

There are some sad moments in this one, and there is the loss of one of the good guys, creating a gap in the fighting forces for good. But as Fin says, sometimes the bad guys get lucky.

I love the concept behind these books. The combination of the Mayan prophecy, and dinosaur shifters is just too delicious to be ignored. The twists and intrigues in this one make for one very captivating story, and I can't wait for more in this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved It, December 2, 2010
This review is from: Eternal Craving (Leisure Paranormal Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
I thought this book was just as good as the first book. I loved how Nina used the sister as the second key and how she lets us get a little insight into Fin and how Seir is his brother. It was interesting to find out that Fin picked beings a long time ago that hated him. Hopefully Nina will elaborate in her next book more on Fin. I love how agressive the men are and how strong willed the women are. Can't wait for the next book

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting concept, disjointed execution, June 27, 2010
This review is from: Eternal Craving (Leisure Paranormal Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
What part of the hero is completed by the heroine. Also, one is left wondering what happened to a great number of characters. It's sort of a now you see them, now you don't kind of thing. The characters are not well explored. Even stranger, since the herione is a newspaper reporter of sorts, you would think she would be prone to analysis, would be prone to wanting to know about the secondary characters whom she meets, prone to getting a few more answers. Finally, it seems almost perfect how some parts fit together, too perfect really. This actually occurs in a number of books but when those perfect parts are well written, it makes the book seem magical. Unfortunately, I didn't get a magic feeling from this book.

Now, all that being said, I picked this up for a dollar so I'm not out of cash, and the writing was simple enough I breezed through it in no time at all, so I'm not really out any time.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Love This Series, and so Does my Husband!, December 2, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Eternal Craving (Leisure Paranormal Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
I found the first book of this series at a Goodwill store and I loved it. So I decided to search for more and found this one on Amazon, which is 2nd in the series. I dearly hope she writes more because I love these books. The men in the books were dinosaurs in another life and are fighting evil. It incorporates the 2012 prophecy into the storyline which is neat since there is so much hype about it right now. I told my husband about the dinosaurs, the first book was about the T Rex one named Ty. And he said he'd give the book a shot. He does NOT like romances at all because he says it's all sex and there's never an interesting story line for him in romances. Well, he liked these books. In fact when I bought this second one, he read it before I got to read it! And he wanted to discuss the books with me! It was awesome! So, if you like a good story with your romance these books are perfecto. I highly recommend them to men and women, even if you normally don't read romance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Book 2 of the Gods of the Night series rocks!!!!, August 4, 2009
This review is from: Eternal Craving (Leisure Paranormal Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Nina Bangs is one of my favorite authors and her Gods of the Night series is totally kick ass! The idea of heroes with the souls of extinct dinosaurs is not only original in concept, but the way the author draws the reader into her imaginary world is downright fun and breathtaking. You have your requisite bad guys, good guys and those in between who you are never quite sure of...but all of them are sexy! Whoo! I can only say that followers of Nina Bangs are left happy and hungry for the next hero's book....may that happen sooner than later. Go out and get your copy of Eternal Craving today...you won't regret it. Be sure you get the first in the series as well, Eternal Pleasure. Man, gotta love those alpha males!
