5.0 out of 5 stars Open Wound, March 3, 2005
This review is from: Eternal Devastation (Audio CD)
I can't believe how great this album is! The last time I heard it was when it first came out something like 2 decades ago. A friend and I were producing an underground magazine "Open Wound" and this was one of the promo albums sent to us for review. I'm now an old man with rugrats running around the homestead, but when I came across this gem on amazon and looked at the track listing I noticed "Curse The Gods". Immediately the song popped into my head and I began singing it out loud. Talk about staying power! This is the stuff new metal bands wish they could imitate. The vocals and music meld into a unique style that sets them apart of the other speed metal bands of the time. I downloaded a couple songs right away to get my fix and ordered the cd. Can't say enough about Destruction or this album... BUY IT

4.0 out of 5 stars Time for Destruction, December 31, 1999

A fury of blazing Teutonic metal, Destruction creates a powerful mixture of speed and musical quality in a compact power trio. Featuring the gritty vocals of bassist Schmeel as well as intense instrumentals, This German audio blitzkreig will appeal to fans of old school Metallica, Megadeth, Exodus or other such metal bands.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best Thrash albums ever, June 19, 2004

It amazes me that to this day, I am only the second person to review this piece of art, Destruction's "Eternal Devastation" has stood the test of time and is undoubtly one of those albums that single handedly ENSLAVED thousands of fans and brought them to the very top of the Metal world. The album has no flaws, throughout the entire album, track after track songs like "Curse The Gods", and Comfound Games" keep pummeling you. The twin guitar attack is merciless. In my opinion, the stand out track is "Life without sense". This song changes rythem 3 or 4 times and is just breath taking, it represents everything good in thrash metal. "United BY Hatred" is a Heavy Metal anthem and again the guitars are crushing. "Confused Mind" is also a true gem, it sounds like Iron Maiden on speed. This album is a must have for fans of any genre of Metal. It still sounds refreshing and is such a stand out against the other thrash albums of the time. "Release from Agony" seems to be the most popular album amoung Destruction fans, but I think that this album is better in just the quality of the songs. Dont just sit there, go and buy it!!!! You will thank me for ever.
