Biography

Fascinated by the myths surrounding legendary Atlantis, the band Visions of Atlantis was formed in 2000. After completing their first demo CD, it took less than a year before the band found a label in Black Arrows/TTS. The company released the first full-length album, “Eternal Endless Infinity“, in Europe and later worldwide.

Fueled by the positive feedback, the band not only toured with bands like… Read more in Amazon's Visions of Atlantis Store

Editorial Reviews

Visions of Atlantis' Symphonic Metal debut from 2002. The band's potential was undisputedly noticeable on this release: heavy riffs paired with fantastic keyboard arrangements and the sweet soprano vocals of then 18-year-old Nicole Bogner conjure the perfect album for fans of Nightwish, Sonata Arctica and even Rhapsody.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not bad..... 2 1/2 stars., May 18, 2005

Kelaal (Missouri, USA) - See all my reviews
One of this band's biggest influences is (guess who) Nightwish-- and it shows. A lot. Namely in the keyboards, which sound almost identical to the ones in Oceanborn. If you are a NW fan at all you'll notice this, and it can either be pleasantly familiar, or plain annoying.

This CD's major flaw is that the production is awful. Sometimes you can barely hear the vocals, which are weak-sounding as it is. The songs themselves are good, but the dull quality sort of keeps them from being enjoyable.

I'd recommend VoA's next CD, Cast Away, much more than this one. It has a new male singer, better production, and they've gotten rid of their attempts at "death vocals." Go ahead and buy Eternal Endless Infinity if you're a fan of the style, but don't expect anything to rival a band like Nightwish.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Amazing! Attention all Nightwish Fans!, June 25, 2003

When I first heard this album, I could not believe my ears. Being a Melodic Metal fan for over 10 years now it was rarely that I have heard such a refreshing debut album! This album has everything - slow songs, midtempo and of course also nice and speedy songs. There are a few things that could be critisized, but the untamed youth that comes out of these musicians makes it all disappear. As I LOVE Nightwish, I can only recommend this album to all fans of the Finish band! It seems that Austria is still a good place to create good music!

2.0 out of 5 stars Get Cast Away instead, April 21, 2005
This review is from: Eternal Endless Infinity (Audio CD)
When you first open the CD, you notice a group photo of the band on the back of the inlay. The female vocalist has her eyes shut, she blinked during the photo shoot. It made the back of the CD. Something is horribly wrong here - wait till you put the disc in your player. This album features their demo, so you get the 3 demo songs and then the "new" studio versions of them. Unfortunely, the production and mixing of the album sounds completely rushed through. If Nightwish and Sonata Arctica got together in a parallel universe and completely sucked, this is the result. The male vocals are terrible. The female vocals are pitchy in parts. The music gets loose where you can hear someone playing too fast or slow, then they catch up or slow down. Whoever mixed this album should be fired; things get too loud, then too soft, then the vocals get too quiet - the sound dynamics are all over the place. I would have thought this album was a DEMO, but oddly enough, the VOCALS AND MIX OF THE 3 DEMO TRACKS SOUND GOOD. So in their studio reproduction, they destroyed the quality of the original demo songs. This album should have been their "demo" but instead it's their 1st album. Get this just for those "original version" demo tracks - otherwise, get CAST AWAY. It's 100% better and worthy of calling a first album. If I were Visions of Atlantis, I would be sure this album disappears and never sees the light of day....unless they re-record it again in the future because the music is worthy if you look past all of the mistakes, so I give it 2 stars for effort instead of 1.
