The "Vampire Rules" here are not mainstream. It takes three bites and the willingness of the person who is being turned to become a vampire. The vampires consume the human blood, obviously; however, they seem to be able to eat human food as well. Another thing they can consume is a human soul. The vampires are daywalkers and they get more physically appealing to humans after they are turned. The only considerable drawback for being a vampire with these rules is the eternal hunger so they must hunt to drink blood, which doesn't really satisfy them; or consume a soul, which appears to be more "filling." There's even an "escape clause" built in - a vampire can turn back into a human if certain conditions are met. I don't want to give spoilers because it's the ending and a cliffhanger of part one; you'll have to read the book to find out.

The narrative is built in a way that makes the main heroine, Lucia, constantly question her sanity. Were she really bitten by a vampire if no one, including herself, sometimes, can see the bite marks? Or is it the pressure of getting married and, in later parts, the pressure of being a newlywed, that is getting to her and her mind is creating these elaborate escapist fantasies? The vampire, Drake, did promise Lucia that she would be able to leave her boring life behind and go globetrotting in style, that her new-found sex appeal would open any doors for her. But did it really happen when most of her encounters with Drake happen inside her dreams; or at least that's what Lucia thinks?

As far as vampire male characters go, Drake does not appear excessively brash or dangerous. This probably reflects the author's preferences.

Even though I had not read the first three novellas in this series, I was quickly drawn into this compelling story. I immediately felt that I knew Lucia and Drake and their shared history, and hungrily read on to find out what their fates had in store. At the end I was left wishing that there was more...... which there is in the final novella, "Forever More".
Ms. Carroll has developed truly believable characters that one instantly connects to. I am not a big reader of romance, mainly because I don't care for mushy, unbelievable, love scenes. Greater Love's romance feels real and not contrived.
I particularly enjoyed the vivid descriptions of terrain and climate - from deserts to snow-bound castles, where I could literally feel what Lucia experienced when she was trapped in these environments.
I'm looking forward to catching up on the first three in the series and finding out what really did happen to Lucia and Drake in the end.

I had the pleasure of reading Eternal Hunger, a novella from Francene Carrol. The novella is a set of 5 mini stories based around the main character Lucia, a girl who in the first story is set to be married. This is a vampire novel of sorts but is a little different from most other vampire novels that I have read. I was immediately drawn in from the first chapter because let's face it, who doesn't love a bad boy (Drake). :) The plot was interesting and the characters were likeable.

This novella takes the reader on a very detailed adventure and explores worlds that Lucia has never experienced. Ms. Carroll has a vivid imagination and has a great way of putting the words together to create a fabulous experience for the reader. This book has a great mix of romance, suspense, and thrills.

From the beginning, the story did not capture my attention. It's possible that this book was not what I expected. I was hoping for a grand romance. (SPOILER ALERT: Instead she ends up killing the vampire in her midst.)

That book was amazing! But it could be extended and tell the rest of the story. What happens when Drake dies and when the baby is born? What happens to the clan in the final battle?

I liked the book it was entertaining but it had a lot of missed spelled words. Overall I gave it a three star rating.

A bachelorett with second thoughts finds the ultimate escape/excuse but she soon regrets her decision. She battles her new found hunger for blood with her quest to win back her soul. In doing so she must take on the vampire hierarchy.

I didn't give away much because more happens but you get the most of the story.

Paranormal mystery at its best. Keeps you wondering what will happen next and who is being honest. A must read.
