Book Description

Cynthia Eden delves into the dark realms of the Others, where desires and dangerous games await the unsuspecting in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. . .

Assistant DA Erin Jerome has a secret. Make that two. One: She's not entirely human--she's Other, desperately trying to keep her supernatural strength under wraps. Two: she's got a killer stalking her--an Other rogue set on "gifting" her bloody corpses, not to mention nights lying awake in terror. Small wonder she's been having bad luck with men.

But the bounty hunter on her new case isn't worried about any of that. Jude Donovan is a shapeshifter himself, and the new DA's midnight hair and addictive scent tell him all he thinks he needs to know: She's gorgeous, she's definitely not human, and she's bringing out the animal in him in a really good way. He might have to track a psychotic Other stalker through half of Louisiana. But he might also get the chance to watch Erin's wild side come out and play. . .

"A fast-paced, sexy thrill ride you won't want to miss." --Christine Feehan

"It hooked me from the first page." --Christine Feehan

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

Starred Review. Danger and excitement leap off every page of this fast-paced paranormal romance set in the world of 2009's ImmortalDanger. A shape-shifter who can't shift and a psychic who dreams about death live in the body of Erin Jerome, who's trying to maintain a normal life as a Louisiana assistant DA while avoiding the secret world of shifters, demons, vampires, witches and djinn. When a shape-shifting psychotic starts stalking Erin, sending her gifts of dead bodies in the crazed hope of luring her to his side, bounty-hunting shifter Jude Donovan vows to keep her safe. Erin wonders whether, like her shifter mother, she carries the seeds of madness and fears that when Jude learns the truth about her he'll turn from her in disgust. Well-crafted characters and nail-biting suspense and passion elevate this tale above the glutted paranormal market. (Jan.)

Eternal Hunger by Cynthia Eden
Paranormal Romance- Dec. 29th, 2009
4 1/2 stars

In Eternal Hunger Cynthia Eden returns to her super sexy shifters! I love her shifter romances and this book did not disappoint. It grabbed me from the first page and did not stop! Cynthia Eden's paranormal world is complex and absorbing. If you are already a fan of her books you will have to purchase this book to add to your collection. If you are a new reader, be prepared for a fun, smooth read.

This story starts with Jude Donovan, a tough no-nonsense bounty hunter who ALWAYS gets his prey. But his latest capture brings with it trouble packaged in the new, ultra attractive Assistant D.A., Erin Jerome. All of a sudden he is bent on hunting an all together different type of quarry. Jude immediately senses something different about Erin and his inner animal wants her for his alone.

But Erin is no easy prey. She has sworn off shifters of any sort in her life. Erin is deceptively strong and no one even a shifter is going to push her around. Even if he does have a rough sort of charm that she finds attractive. Starting afresh in a new town, the last thing she wants are any complications. Which means keeping a low profile. And she knows a shifter will just bring her trouble. Unfortunately, her past and Jude's collide as Erin is targeted and Jude becomes her bodyguard. But Erin's ultimate test is taking the final risk and believing in herself.

This book was sheer pleasure from start to finish. Cynthia Eden is one of my favorite authors. I am hooked by her series because each of her books reveals something new about her world and her characters are always sympathetic and likeable.

3.0 out of 5 stars It was okay, but... July 2, 2010
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This is the second book I've read by this author (I downloaded both as Kindle freebies). It was a little better than the first, but the author still has problems with her dialogue. Her plot idea was good, and her pacing was okay, but the problems with dialogue took me out of the story too often and ruined the tension. Another reviewer mentioned that she tends to use the same words a lot. The previous reviewer cited it was during sex scenes, but I notice that it's repetitive in other places, too. The characters all tend to start sounding/talking alike by the end of the book, with the dialogue sounding awkward and immature in places. If the author could fix those problems (really get into the minds of her characters and make sure each is speaking with a distinct voice), I think her books could really shine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Find! July 23, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Wow! For a book I just "sort of found"...right from the start, it was very good! It was the story of a young attorney trying to live a 'normal' life, while a psycho shifter stalks her and gifts her with dead bodies and red roses. Yet ANOTHER great take on paranormals in a human world, complete with demons, tigers and wolves! Did I mention the next step in paranormal evolution? I read this in 2010, am currently re-reading!

2.0 out of 5 stars Eternal... yes, it lasted way too long July 12, 2010
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I am giving an extra star for concept. The author had a nice idea for the standard paranormal romance that everyone else is churning out. But 25% in, I found myself tapping the status to see how much was left. Overall I found the story and writing unengaging.

"Style":
No one has a unique inner voice. The point of view jumps are random, unclear, and confusing- probably because every single character uses the same phrases to describe each concept. Three different (male & female) characters mention a "busted out knee" within 5 or 10 pages at one point. Every single character describes any female as "the lady," even the hooker. Who looks at a hooker and thinks to themselves "...the lady was wearing fishnet?" I could have given some leeway for the southern setting, but there are no other descriptors used.

"Content":
It is likely that everyone sounded the same because they all had the same background. The only character with any redeeming values, the one who draws you in and makes you care, is the grandmother of random side characters/victims who only has a cameo of a few lines/pages. Every character is a victim, from the main heroes to the serial killers (yes, plural).

"Romance":
Lying by omission is just not sexy to me. There was a bit of good here. Animal lust is powerful, but at least the heroine did have an emotional draw to the main love interest. He made her feel safe and able to be herself. Great in concept!

I just wish it had been delivered better, in full sentences.

4.0 out of 5 stars 4.5 stars loved it January 4, 2010
Format:Paperback
Cynthia Eden does a wonderful job taking readers back into the world of the Others. ADA Erin Jerome has spent her life trying to hide that she is not quite human. A recent case has her running into bounty hunter Jude Donovan. Jude is all Other and makes no attempts to hide it from his fellow Others. He enjoys who he is and knows what Erin is the moment he catches her scent. From there we have a stalker and killer on the loose. Jude stays by Erin's side to protect her and the pages sizzle from there on out. LOVVVEED this. I was 50/50 on Immortal Danger? The dragon story but with Eternal Hunter I was engrossed from the first pages and sucked in. The love scenes were smoking and went hand in hand with the plot and storyline. Jude and Erin were well written characters that I'm adding up there with Emily the monster doc and her were shifter Colin. Eden was already on my auto buy list but after reading this I'm even more glad that I snatched this off the shelves. Readers will enjoy this and close it with a satisfied feeling
