Many people who are not familiar with religious history or biblical context would find this an easy and enlightening read. Dr. Mattox does a wonderful job of taking secular historical evidences that are well researched and generally accepted and aligning them with biblical apologetics. It is the kind of book that helps to bring proof to the bibles historical contexts, the deity of Jesus and the nature of the church that was established in the first century.

This book also expertly shows how heretical and denominationalism began from the early days and shatters the idea that we can somehow take liberties with God's word and still be right with Him. For those who are not sincere, this book is convicting and will make many angry but it stands well on its own and does not attempt to push any doctrine onto anyone other than what is supported within scripture itself.

An excellent, well researched and authored book and for the price, worth every penny. It has been suggested that this book is out of print but it is not. It can be obtained directly from the publisher at "[...]" if you can't find it here on Amazon.

I read this book years ago and remembered that it spoke with clarity and was easy to understand with many historical facts of the progression of the Lord's church through the centuries. I was glad to find it at a garage sale a few months ago and that it was as I remembered. I remembered the questions it answered and also that it caused me to ask. I appreciated the attention to what the Bible said on these issues and pointing out the way His church slipped away from the true beginnings. It's interesting to read how some of the very things we we do today came from man's ideas centuries ago. Reading it again I can see that probably the church isn't completely restored but that it is an ongoing process. We do have some religious fathers to thank for realizing the methods and ideas that had taken over had not been established by God. It would do all well to read this book with an open mind, not predisposed to their own ideology, and see what conclusions they come to. The book is for the layman, well-written and easy to read and understand. Very, very informative.

excellent - even though I had previously borrowed the book, I wanted a copy for my own to study.
