An amazing album! I didn't know they were capable of such wicked tightness. Eternal & In Cold Blood were definately the band's peak.To all you slow pussy bands who think there the s**t.......take a listen to this album and learn something because this is what it's all about!!Suggestion to the band: Bring Jason Blachowicz back to the line-up you goof balls.Just when you pass up cannibal corpse you change everything with nerdy brett hoffmann.

I bought this album because it was cheap. I wasn't expecting anything too amazing, but when i started listening to it i got hooked. I don't know much about this band, and this is the only album i have by them, but it is great death metal to listen to. I would say fans of Morbid Angel (me) would enjoy this ablum (i do).

I don't understand why this record fails to get the attention I think it deserves as one of the best death metal records ever. it seems alot of people like Brett Hoffmans vocals better but I think Jason blows him away. His vocals are unique and roaring. The music is blistering. The production is slightly raw but it it add alot to the brutality. It's a powerful recording, and I think it may be my favorite snare drum sound ever. I've been into death metal since 1993, and everything about this record to me is damn near perfect. Buy it!!!

This is one of my favorite Malevolent Creation albums in my collection. I brought it sometime in late 1995. Years before this, the band was on hiatus. They were going through a lot of problems. Some of the problem were a bad record deal with Roadrunner, internal problems and the bad release of Stillborn which was considered a disaster by some fans as well as the band members themselves. The band also lost lead guitarist Rob Barrett and long-time vocals Brett Hoffman. By the way, the both of them will eventially rejoin the band for The Fine Art Of Murder later on. Anyway, the band was on hiatus and all of this was from 1993 until 1995. They did actually appear on 2 compliation albums called Live Death which was released in 1994 and The South Florida Slammie Awards CD which was realsed in 1995. That was pretty much the only time that the band showed their faces but between Stillborn and this album, they didn't put out a record. The first time I heard about the band releasing this album was when I stumbled across a review for it in a free magazine here in Florida called JAM Magazine. This was the same magazine that gave Deicide's Once Upon The Cross a bad review. Anyway, this album also got a bad review. After that, I should have looked for album and gotten it but I ignored it. Bad mistake. Than, I went on a couple of months without ever thinking about it but when it finally came to my attention, I went to the Camelot Music store at the mall near where I lived and ordered a copy. Than, I got it in a week. When I got it, I took it home and listend to it and it delivered.

Now for my review. I have been a fan of Malevolent Creation for a long and this album is one of the best by the band next to Retribution and In Cold Blood. It's also a new direction for the band.

MALEVOLENT CREATION'S 1995 pavement records debut "ETERNAL" boasts a triumphant return after undergoing personal turmoil. it also followed a depressing point in their career that not only saw the band lose the interest of crucial vocalist brett hoffman, but also the interest of ROADRUNNER RECORDS, who had just started setting their financial sights on trendier and more easily marketable music. but what obviously didnt kill them made them stronger, as "ETERNAL" became the band's most hateful release yet. the obvious stand out track is "alliance or war" which is so catchy and potent that it could attract a positive response from someone that is not into death metal. other great tracks are "they breed" and "blood brothers". "ETERNAL" also marks the recording debut of new drummer dave culross, who is better represented with a better drum sound on the band's "FINE ART OF MURDER" release 3 years later. nevertheless, his work is near flawless. unfortunately, jason blachowicz's vocals and lyrics dont hold a candle to ex-vocalist brett hoffman's, even when brett was at his worst (1993's STILLBORN.)overall, ETERNAL is a great and solid death metal record worthy of 4 stars out of 5.

I have 5 Malevolent Creation albums (including this album, Envenomed, The Will To Kill, In Cold Blood and Fine Art Of Murder) ... THIS was the first and for me THIS is the best. Yes, I know that there are a few glaring omissions from my collection but can the others be any better than this?
The musicianship is supreme, testament to the fact that extreme metal has always attracted the fastest, most talented and dedicated of musicians. This is a genre of music were great players continually push the boundaries and limits.
Although the band are as ONE on this album, Culcross and Blachowitz make this album special with Culcross providing a precise and murderous backdrop to Blachowitz's committed roars of aggression and hate.
Just listen to 'Infernal Desire' or 'Blood Brothers'
"We've killed before and we'll kill again"
I believe them!!!
Yep, this album serves up metal just the way I like! And it is - from a collection that ranges from Death to Hate Eternal - one of my personal favourites!
