This review is from: The Eternal Paddy: Irish Identity and the British Press, 1798-1882 (History of Ireland & the Irish Diaspora) (Paperback)
Professor Michael de Nie of the University of Wisconsin has crteated a masterpiece.
Heavily annotated and rich with examples, de Nie coins the word "simianification", to describe how the British dehumanized the Irish, essentially making a monkey out of them! This is a great book for anyone of Irish Ancestry, a must-read to understand the British oppression of the Irish people. |
