Review

This is a great book. I hope everyone will buy two copies; one to keep and another to give away. --Dean W. Woodard Ph.D., University of Texas at Dallas

The book is a travel guide to the core message of the Bible. --Beth Pratt, Lubbock Avalanche Journal

About the Author

Chuck Williams grew up on Route 66, first in his parents’ hometown of Oklahoma City, then in Amarillo, Texas until age eleven. His family logged thousands of miles between Rolla, Missouri and Los Angeles. Chuck and his wife, Ann, continue to be fervent and frequent travelers of “America’s Highway,” from Chicago to Santa Monica. A graduate of Wayland University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Chuck has been in ministry for over thirty years. His experiences working with teenagers, and teaching and leading a church designed for unchurched people have given him insights into the practical application of God’s Word. Chuck, Ann, their son Rich, and a handful of friends founded Live Oak Community Church, in Lubbock, Texas, in 1993. Chuck currently serves as Senior Pastor of this contemporary, relevant, and dynamic church.

5.0 out of 5 stars Eternal Route 66 - The Father Road, July 29, 2006
This review is from: Eternal Route 66: Get More Than Kicks (Paperback)
If you are a fan of route 66 and of life then this book is a must read. Chuck and Ann Williams have done a beautiful job of tying information about Route 66 - "The Mother Road" and the 66 books of the Bible - "The Father Road" together. The book describes a 22 day trip across Route 66 with all of the stops that Chuck and Ann made. Along the way they add various passages from the Bible - at least one from every book of the Bible(all 66)and tie them in with their trip in a wonderful way. I really enjoyed this book both as a travel log and as a source of inspiration. As I read I felt that I was along for the ride with Chuck and Ann and my faith was strengthed in Jesus, my Lord and Savior as well. It doesn't get much better than that.

This book is a great read for anyone that love an American travel journal and the sights and the people of the "Mother Road". Having travel the old road myself, reading Chuck Williams account of his and his wife Ann journey was very real and brought back the memories I have. Connecting their travel of Route 66 with the 66 books of Gods word, the Bible, really made the book come to life, eternal life that is. Our lives get so fast these day's and the old roads around us can slow the pace. Reading and getting into His word does the same thing, slows us down to see the life that He has created for each one of us. Chuck truly brings this out in this amazing study of bringing the two routes together. But I caution you with one thing, along with the Eternal Route 66 book, you must have a Bible close at hand to complete the journey. A reference guide when traveling is a good thing to have.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read for Rt. 66 enthusiast, August 12, 2008

Chuck Williams does a great job of sharing Rt. 66 trivia for enthusiasts like me. I thought the tie in with the Bible might be contrived or hokey, but it wasn't. It flowed very well. The book offers great insight info on both topics - Rt. 66 and the Bible.
