In the new Charlie Kaufman film, Joel - played by Jim Carrey - is stunned to discover that his girlfriend Clementine (Kate Winslet) has had her memories of their tumultuous relationship erased. He contacts the inventor of the process, Dr Mierzwiak (Tom Wilkinson), to have Clementine removed from his memory. But as Joel's memories progressively disappear, he begins to rediscover his earlier passion for Clementine and tries to escape the procedure from deep within the recesses of his brain. As Dr Mierzwiak and his crew (Kirsten Dunst, Mark Ruffalo, Elijah Wood) chase him through the maze of his memories, it's clear that Joel just can't get out of his head. The NHB Shooting Script is the official tie-in with this major release and Oscar-contender from Columbia Pictures. As well as the full screenplay, it contains introduction and notes by the film-makers, a special 20-page section of colour stills, and complete cast and crew credits.

Charlie Kaufman was nominated for Oscars for Best Original Screenplay for his first film, Being John Malkovich, and Best Adapted Screenplay for Adaptation, both directed by Spike Jonze. Other screenplays are Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and Human Nature, which was directed by Michel Gondry, the director of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
