Book Description

The six years following the abrupt death of her father were the worst of Calista Bishoff's life. Frightened by her own mortality, Callie’s mom threw herself into a search for the Fountain of Youth—and dragged Callie along with her.

Callie should have loved traveling, but instead she hated every minute. When one more failed search sends her mother into depression, they finally return home to California. Sixteen-year-old Callie is ready to hang with her friends and be normal for as long as she can.

But, an unplanned trip to Bermuda with her grandmother throws Callie’s plans awry, and there’s more in store for Callie and her mom than just a simple beach vacation. Callie’s life is turned inside out as she finds herself in a very different world than the one she knows—

Where things exist that she never dreamed were real.

Editorial Reviews

"Julia and Nolia have created an original and intriguing tale about a girl who stumbles upon a world hidden within the depths of our own. The story is what I've come to expect from Julia: delightful, well-told and entertaining. I was equally impressed by Nolia, an up-and-coming young adult author with an effortless talent for storytelling." - Lizzy Ford, bestselling author of the Rhyn Trilogy

4.0 out of 5 stars Really enjoyed this one! August 15, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
As a YA book blogger I meet a lot of awesome authors, and one of my favorites hands down is Julia Crane the author of the Keegan's Chronicles. So when I was contacted to be a part of a blog tour for Eternal Youth a book which Julia Crane and author Nolia McCarty wrote together, I was all for it! Although Eternal Youth was very different compared to Julia's other works, it was still a very enjoyable read!

Eternal Youth follows Callie, Callie is sick of having to follow her mom up volcano's and travel all over the world to places she can't pronounce, all in search of the fountain of youth. She is sure her mom is losing her mind, but when a supposed to be normal vacation to Bermuda goes wrong she lands in Aionia a magical island where there is no electricity and no way home..a place where nothing is as it seems. Callie will meet some new friends. Maybe even fall in love, but what happens when she finds a way to get back home? Will she leave everyone she has learned to love in Aionoia...or will she stay there forever.

This was a great read, right in the beginning you are thrown into Callie's life marching up the side of a volcano with her `crazy' mother, I absolutely loved hearing about the scenery of the jungles and amazons she has been to. I will admit the beginning of Eternal Youth was a little slow, but once you got about half way through it really really picks up, and even though the beginning was slow it was still nice to read, Julia and Nolia's writing flowed very nicely and I easily read Eternal Youth in one day!

My favorite part of Eternal Youth was Aionia, at first I couldn't imagine being trapped on a small island where there is no electricity.

3.0 out of 5 stars Started off good but left disappointed February 9, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This started off good. It was really interesting and could have easily just passed as a fictional story about a girl who travels the world with her mother. But then once when they got to Aionia I felt like the story changed. Everything felt rushed and there were people falling in love left right and centre. They were only there about a week and already Callie is dating someone and this guy is declaring his love for her and saying they can get married and spend the rest of their lives together. The girl is 16! Does no one else see the problem here? I did like the world of Aionia that the authors created and the general plot of the story was intriguing but the ending was just very rushed and I would have liked a bit more back story to Aionia. Overall was good but was left a bit disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Story! July 22, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Great story that takes you along with Callie in her mother's quest around the world to find the fountain of youth, to places that time has forgotten. along with all the adventure this is a sweet, heart-warming love story that makes you want the love that the characters in this book have found. Wonderfully written, takes you right into the action and makes you believe that you are in the middle of it all. I would reccommend this to anyone who wanted to get lost and fall in love.

5.0 out of 5 stars Eternally Fun Read! May 5, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Callie Bishoff's life has been one long trip after another--for six years she's accompanied her mother in search of the legendary Fountain of Youth. Now if that premise isn't enough to grab a reader's attention, keep turning the pages because there is a lot more. At the very beginning I wondered some where the story was leading, but then Callie climbed on that plane. Without playing a spoiler, trust me from that point on you will not be able to put the book down. Filled with likeable characters--Callie, Emma her mom, two friends, Nailah and Alaric, and an original storyline, the authors weaved a plot that keeps you guessing until the very end. Yes, you find yourself wondering how the story is going to be resolved, but on a more philosophical level, this novel begets the question--what would you do if you had the chance to live in a utopian world where everything seemed perfect, but in order to live in this perfect world you would be forced to give up all that your current mundane life had to offer. What would you choose? That's a hard one--but I can definitely tell you what isn't hard. Picking up ETERNAL YOUTH and enjoying a damn entertaining story!

4.0 out of 5 stars It feels like your traveling with Callie!! July 4, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This is a very good book. It is descriptive and interesting. In some points in the book it feels like you are actually traveling with Callie and her family!
All of the charecters were great. The all had specific charecteristics and personalities. If I were to pick a favorite it would either be Avery or Alaric. But honesly I liked all of the charecters.
This book is great for reall all ages 10 and above. It has that likable feeling that the young and old would enjoy. Overall this was just a good book. I would definetly recomend this book to any one. I would also deinetly read it again and again.
