I did not like it. I wanted it to be over.,

This review is from: Eternally His: D'argent Honor II (Paperback)
I found myself skimming parts. There is far too much pondering in the minds of the characters. Some of the ponderings are about the past which tell the history rather than show it. There were a number of past history flashbacks done through telling and not showing. I would have preferred experiencing them. Other ponderings and conversations are repetitive, for example, Stefan repeatedly thinks about not letting himself turn Julie and that he plans to leave her. On a few occasions, some of the characters are thinking about what sex would be like, and the resulting sex scene is played out in their imagination. Not much seemed to be happening with the overall plot. This was no fun to read. It was not satisfying.
Story brief: This is the 2nd story in a series. Stories 1, 3 and 4 are in the anthology "Full Circle." Alina is queen of the d'Argent vampire clan. Louis is from the Reynard clan and proposes to Alina. She refuses him. He is humiliated. As his revenge, he kills one human woman who looks like Alina every full moon. So far, he has killed 20 women. Stefan and two others from the D'Argent clan learn that Julie is Louis' next target. They stay near Julie to protect her. In the process of protecting her, Stefan falls in love with her. She wants to become a vampire, but he is reluctant. The story includes body piercings, rear door activity, ménage a trios, and one scene with two guys. Sexual language: strong/erotic. Number of sex scenes: ten. Setting: current day Chicago and other places in the U.S. Copyright: 2006. Genre: erotic paranormal romance. For a list of my reviews of other Ann Jacobs books, see my 2 star review of "Full Circle" posted 8/26/08.

This review is from: Eternally His: D'argent Honor II (Paperback)
Stefan is on the trail of a killer vampire, Louis Reynard, nicknamed
"The Fox." Arriving too late to save the latest victim, Stefan and the rogue vampire begin a vicious battle with Stefan being bitten and losing the vampire to the night. Stefan searches and finds Louis on a plane heading to Chicago. He follows Reynard's car to a hotel; however, Reynard doesn't get out and Stefan has to admit defeat. Placing a call to his cousin, the queen of vampires, Stefan relays the latest information to Alina. Alina has news of her own. It seems that she has discovered whom the next female victim of The Fox is going to be. The vampire queen wants to send Stefan back to Chicago to protect the woman. Stefan agrees to Alina's request, unknowing that the minute he sees Reynard's next victim, his protective instincts will go into overload and his heart will be lost. Julia Quinn steps outside of her home to walk her dog and spies the most handsome man she has ever seen. Immediately attracted to him she forgets where she is and her dog is almost run over. Julia is surprised to find her dog in the man's arms and when he introduces himself, Julia can't deny her arousal. She immediately agrees to Stefan's request to sleep in her home not knowing that Stefan aided her agreement with a bit of vampire magic. Stefan and Julia spend the next day together and their attraction culminates in a passionate night. The next morning, a guilty Stefan comes clean about being a vampire, Louis Reynard, and the danger that Julia is in. Julia takes everything in stride and has complete confidence in Stefan. Her only request is for Stefan to change her into a vampire and her feelings are hurt when he denies her. Not knowing what to think, Julia inadvertently puts herself in danger. d'Argent Honor: Eternally His by Ann Jacobs threw me for a loop. Not expecting the kick butt action, I was pleasantly surprised and full of glee while reading. I fell immediately in love with Stefan and that helped my feelings about Eternally His as well. I was happy to see more action and loose ends being tied up concerning the bad guy, Louis Reynard. Eternally His kept me on the edge of my seat and enthralled from page one to the end. Ann Jacobs has a winner in d'Argent Honor: Eternally His and I am so proud to be a fan of this series! Natalie S. |
