The first three tracks, Spring is Here, Shaw'Nuff and A Night in Tunisia were recorded in 1961 along with I'll Keep Loving You, Idaho and Mary's Improvisation, a performance inspired by Tenderly. Joshua's Blue is a blues piece originally untitled on the master. Tracks 5 through 7, 'Round Midnight, I Hear Music and Someone to Watch Over Me were recorded in June 1962 in Francis' home on Rue de Boursault in Paris. Deep Night and But Beautiful could well have been recorded in the last sessions before Bud was diagnosed with tuberculosis. During his stay at a sanatorium called Bouffémont, he wrote the song Blues for Bouffémont and recorded it in February of 1964 in Francis' home on Rue de Clichy. Eternity is the title of a poem Bud wrote on his bedside at King County Hospital a week before he died on July 31, 1966. God gave Bud eternal life through the healing power of his music. There is healing in music and you see in these songs a life-giving process. A thing of beauty is a joy forever and forever is Eternity.

Penetrating, beautiful, haunting solo Bud Powell,
This review is from: Eternity (Audio CD)
The legacy of the great Bud Powell has always suffered unfairly, victimized by generations of bias against his later work (post-1955), and bad publicity regarding the health and mental problems that plagued him. While the quicksilver marvels of his early career obviously remain definitive, the late Francis Paudras, Powell scholar/collector Carl Smith (author of "Bouncing with Bud") and others have long insisted that Powell not only continued to evolve throughout his late work, and never lost his "chops" or his magic. Private home solo performances for friends such as Francis Paudras were particularly enlightening, offering glimpses of a relaxed and comfortable Bud Powell, inspired to play and experiment.
This collection of previously unissued 1961-1964 home recordings by Paudras, was lovingly co-produced by Celia Powell and Jessica Shih, and it is a treasure that represents a cross sample of Powell's many different sounds. The glorious and lightning fast "early style" ("Shaw Nuff", "Idaho"). Wrenching blues ("Blues for Bouffemont"). Monkish ballads (Bud's love of Monk was very strong throughout his late period). Tatum-esque treatments. Originals ("Joshua's Blues"). Highest possible recommendation.

Confused,

The notes say that "Night in Tunisia" was recorded in 1961.
Why is it the same break and solo as the 1949 Blue Note recording?
