Book Description

Note from the Author: Christians are not immune to the world’s pressures, and sometimes we go to church without the Good News penetrating into our “real lives.” We get swayed by messages—overt and covert—about who we are and who we should be. We think that God does not speak to these concerns other than to say, “Do this” or “Don’t do that.” It is only when we look beneath the nice words spoken so eloquently from the pulpit that we realize God gave us the guidelines because they are so very practical. They keep us, if we let them, from stumbling into heartbreaking situations. The two stories in The Friendship Series aim to take the reader on a journey with Christians who in the beginning don’t seem to let their Christianity inform their encounters with the world to Christians who realize that God showed us His Way because it works—not just in theory but in real, actual, everyday life.

Aaron Foster thought he had the perfect life until his fiancee walked out of their apartment and then back in again with his new roommate. In desperation Aaron and his best friend, Harmony Jordan, devise The Plan to save Drew's heart from getting shattered, but when The Plan succeeds beyond their wildest expectation, it could spell heartache for them all.

Harmony Jordan has loved Aaron Foster since the first minute he rescued her from a literal computer crash. The only problem is, Aaron only sees her as a friend. Trying to be content to be the person Aaron goes to when life crashes around him, Harmony puts her heart on the line for him to help him rescue his in-for-real-trouble new roommate. However, she never expected the roommate to fall for her, or for her to fall for him. Now what?

“Eternity,” a gem among Contemporary Romance novels, proves romances can be melded with inspirational books to produce something truly amazing and unexpected. Delving into and through the subject most contemporary romance books are predicated upon—free and easy sex, “Eternity” shows that romance novels don’t have to have characters hopping into bed to be romantic, fun, and entertaining. Further, it seeks to dispel the myth that all romantic relationships must start and end in the bedroom. As romance books go, it has all the romance in a clean, inspirational read that any lover of romance novels will appreciate.

*~ Excerpt ~*

Aaron was trapped. When he turned and leaned on the door, his gaze fell to the phone. In a flash he had it in his hand, and in less than a second the other end was ringing.

“Hello?” Harmony's voice drifted over the lines.

“It’s her,” he said in utter desperation.

“They’re downstairs.”

“Right now?”

“On my couch. They are making out on my couch!”

“Oh, no.”

“Could you give me something a little more than oh, no?”

“Yeah, that’s closer. Oh, man. What am I going to do?”

“Are you sure it’s her?”

“Okay. Of course you’re sure. Okay. Okay. Let me think. Where are you?”

“In my room.”

“Do they know you’re home?”

“No. I don’t know. I don’t think so.”

Her side went silent for a moment. “The fire escape’s on your window isn’t it?”

He looked at the window in trepidation. “Yeah, but it’s only for emergencies.”

The plan was looking better and better all the time. “But where am I supposed to go? It’s 12:30 in the morning!”

Without more than a second’s pause, her voice softened. “You could come over here.”

That stopped him. In all the time he had known her, he had never been to her place, not even once. “Your place? Are you sure?”

“You’re in trouble,” she said as if stating the case for a jury. “When a friend’s in trouble, you do whatever you have to to help them out.”

“Even this?”

She didn’t say anything for a long moment. “I think I’ll live.” Quickly she gave him the directions.

He smiled, momentarily forgetting the disaster downstairs as he wrote them down. “I’ll be there in ten minutes.”

4.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended April 28, 2002
By C. Penn
Four months after the ending of his engagement to Brandy, Aaron Foster still mourns his loss. The realization of the superficiality of their relationship offers cold comfort during the endless nights alone. Only his friendship with Harmony Jordan still brings him pleasure. Then she introduces him to a new roommate, and he feels as if he has met a missing brother. He and Drew are both mired in hated jobs hoping to work their way up the proverbial ladder. Then Drew meets a new woman, and when Aaron realizes his roommate is dating his ex-fiancée, he asks Harmony's help in The Plan.
During the last four years Harmony has been Drew's confidant and his best friend. Never has he suspected the deeper feelings that she keeps to herself. Years of men seeing her not as a desirable woman but simply as a buddy have left her scarred. So when Aaron asks her help in The Plan, she finds herself complying, and embarking upon a confusing yet gratifying plan to lure Drew away from certain heartache. Yet even as grows closer to Drew, she finds that The Plan merely complicated an already challenging situation.
Inspirational author Staci Stallings offers a refreshing romance filled with the ordinary challenges of love and the extraordinary measures endured for its sake in ETERNITY. These lively, deftly realized characters will touch readers' hearts with their struggles with finding the path to love. No heavy-handed religious message distract the reader, yet the implicit message about the value of friendship and the consequences of devastating results of easy sex strengthen the plot. A sweetly romantic repast that examines the complexities of loyalty and friendship, ETERNITY comes highly recommended.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not What I Was Hoping For :-( March 25, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book is listed as a inspirational book but I found sadly that it wasn't true within it's pages. The characters live immoral life styles, even if it doesn't go into the act it is implied and accepted. The girl was the only one who wasn't that way but it was not because of her faith. Prayer was mentioned very little and The Lord had very little influence in their lives if any. When you have a personal relationship with The Lord it reflects in every part of your life even if you don't realize it. I can't say I would suggest this book because it showcases a life that I can't and don't agree with in the least.

4.0 out of 5 stars It kept me reading! April 16, 2014

Eternity, was fun to read. I enjoyed the characters and the storyline. My disappointment in the book is due to the lack of God being mentioned or even referred to. After reading of the sexual relations (outside of marriage) and noting the lack of anyone's faith in God, I wondered if I had mistakenly purchased a secular book, thinking that it was a Christian story. There really wasn't anything to make me think that it was. I will definitely read more of Staci's books, but I think that perhaps Eternity shouldn't be considered an "Inspirational" Novel.

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting May 8, 2014

My only complaint is the lack of Jesus in this book. It is a good, moral read, and perhaps inspirational, but not a real directive for a Christian lifestyle.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Sometimes Good is Standing in the Way of Great!" February 6, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Aaron Foster needs a new roommate. His fiancee broke off the engagement and moved out. His best friend and coworker, Harmony Jordan, connects him with a new roommate. Wonderful!!!!! The new "roomie" is like a long lost brother until. . . until he walks in dating Aaron's old roommate and ex-fiancee. What is he going to do?

Harmony Jordan has loved Aaron from day one. They work next to each other. They eat breakfast and lunch together. Aaron confides in her his heartache over the breakup and in turn she struggles with being a good friend while trying to keep in check her own feelings.

When Aaron can't take his new roommate's relationship any longer, he devises THE PLAN to split them up. Get Drew interested in Harmony and the ex will be gone. Great plan right? Except he did not plan for it to work so well.

Harmony was not sure of this plan in the beginning but went along with it to help Aaron out. But then she did not expect to have feelings for Drew, which complicates the whole situation even further.

Stallings' book Eternity is certainly a roller coaster ride. It takes you through the twists and turns of each relationship. From Aaron's realization of his feelings for Harmony to Harmony's struggle with her feelings for Drew AND Aaron. You are never sure where you may end up or what is around the next corner.

The characters in Eternity, as in all of Stallings' books, are so real. They actually could be the person sitting right next to you. Their lives are not perfect. They are faced with temptation, sin and choices. Do they make the right decisions? Do we always make the right decisions? The characters are real just like you and I.

Eternity is a sweet romance that will warm your heart. I was provided a free copy of the book for an honest review. And honestly, I loved it!!

My only question is "What happens to Drew?"

2.0 out of 5 stars Lies, Deception, and God Barely Gets a Mention September 21, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Review includes ***SPOILERS***.

I probably would have been okay with this book being called inspirational. Well, maybe. But when the author added the note before the book's description, she implied this is a Christian romance. God is mentioned a total of five times. In the author's note, she refers to Christians going to church without the gospel actually penetrating their hearts. I'm in full agreement with that. However, not a single character in this book went to church or even mentioned attending church. The book is rife with lies, deception, drinking, and premarital sex, none of which is inspirational, let alone Christian. None of these characters is under any pressure that would lead to any of these actions.

Some might argue that Harmony saving herself for marriage is Christian. Not really. Her reasons have nothing at all to do with a belief in God's will for purity before marriage. They are based solely on her sister's experience. And even when Aaron and Harmony discuss waiting to have sex, it has more to do with wanting to make sure their relationship is based on love, rather than sex. Again, no mention of God, faith, or God's will.

Having said that, even as a romance, I found Eternity sadly lacking. Seldom have I run across a more pathetic heroine than Harmony. Poor, pitiful Harmony, nobody will ever love her, every guy leaves her, blah, blah, blah. Why? Just because she won't have sex? No, it probably has more to do with her horrible self-worth issue, and the fact that she's in love with Aaron. When Aaron quits, she's such a sad sack she can't stand to go to work without him? What is this, high school? Grow up, you'll see him after work.

Aaron is a poor excuse for a hero, too. Why doesn't he just tell Drew he was engaged to his ex-roommate, Mandy?
