I write action thrillers which will make you laugh, cringe, cry & cheer. My protagonists are capable but flawed reluctant heroes who I hope are well worth investing your time in.

This was a well-written book with an interesting plot and lots of action but the language and the sex was just too strong for my taste. If you like action thrillers and those things aren't an issue to you, then you'll probably enjoy this one. I couldn't recommend it to my friends but I'm sure it will find an appreciative audience.

Cover - Would have liked for the image not to be stretched but that's just me being crotchety.

Formatting / Appearance - There were no issues at all.

Story - For the most part this book was serious and all action. But there were these strong undercurrents of sarcasm that had me smiling and wondering how sarcastic the author must be as a person. John Smith goes from dull, and boring to eventful and daring. Almost like Clark Kent changing in a phone box.

What I liked - The flow of the story. The author made every effort to make this a page turner and it pays off. You never feel bored and look forward to seeing how things end up for poor John Smith.

What I didn't like - A slightly better balance between the characters. Right now, it seems as if one or two drown out the others and you forget about the smaller characters that bring meaning to the story.

Rating - 4 / 5 stars.

Disclosure - I received a complimentary copy from the author which did not affect my honest opinion.

This was an excellent read. I enjoyed it immensely. I kind of felt sorry for the main character at the beginning but, boy, did he really grow a pair as the story moved forward. The author has written a very believable relationship between the lead character and Savannah. The bad guy was very dark and he made me feel uncomfortable. I would not like to meet him in reality. The story went along at that perfect pace where I just couldn't put it down, I had to keep reading to find out how it all ended. Can't wait for more in this series.

John Smith is a 32 years old underachiever. His wealthy parents pay for his lovely flat `cos his low profile job won't allow him to pay his bills. No matter what his family tries to do, they can't get John motivated enough to do something constructive with his life. As the last attempt to influence John his parents recruit Mark, his best friend, to help...

However Mark turns out to be not the person everyone thinks he was...

Mark introduces John to Savannah who changes his life forever...
John & Savannah are pulled together into a fast moving stream of events they can't always control.

John proves to be much more than the underachiever & Savannah much more than just a pretty face.
Our heroes run around London trying to discover not only the truth about Mark but also come out of the "sticky situation" alive & save quite a few lives along the way.

I really enjoyed reading "Ethan Justice: Origins".
I like how Simon Jenner talks about important subjects such as trafficking, sexual abuse etc. His way of making the reader aware of all the important matters is brilliant.

The book is very well written, reads fast & does get your mind wondering.

I would recommend the novel to not only people who like Guy Ritchie's films but also everyone interested in a good old fashion criminal story. Not necessarily one written and taking place in Scandinavia

Although this genre is not my usual preference, I picked this up after a friend mentioned it and I'm glad I did, it's a really good read if you are looking for something entertaining and fun that isn't too heavy going. The characters are great especially the main character smith, he is funny and hopeless as well as resourceful and determined and he makes you root for him throughout! Looking forward to the next one :)

This book was my favorite of the summer. From the very beginning, I was hooked and couldn't put it down. It was written in such a way that I felt immersed in the story rather than sitting on the sideline looking on. It was action packed and an absolutely thrilling read. I've already ordered the second book in the series and cannot wait to see the future books this author has in store for us. I would put this right up there with some of my all time favorite books. In the interest of full disclosure, I received a free copy of Ethan Justice: Origins from Simon R. Jenner for review but loved it so much that I purchased the second book in the series, Ethan Justice: Relentless, for myself.

What a great read. I had a hard time putting it down before the end. Now, just give us the next "Justice" episode.
