5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent teaching text
Have used this text (2nd and now 3rd editions)to teach business ethics classes at the graduate and undergraduate levels for several years. It is well written and popular with students. Case studies represent the spectrum of ethics issues found in business today. The foundational ethics theory is clearly articulated, appropriate and sufficient.

3.0 out of 5 stars A Thesis
This book is jam packed with good information. The case studies are good and the subjects are well researched and presented. Unfortunately, it reads like the author's Thesis.

4.0 out of 5 stars A comprehensive overview of business ethics, October 4, 1998
By A Customer
In Ethics and the Conduct of Business, Boatright presents a well thought out and comprehensive study of Business and Ethics. Tracing the historical foundations of business ethics and deeply examining the moral, legal, and economic prespectives proves to be a worthwhile reading experience. Sometimes and bit dry but easily understood with worthy case examples, I would reccomend this book to any interested party.

4.0 out of 5 stars Business Ethics, January 9, 2007

This is a good book to start studying the Business Ethics. Kind of convoluted to learn about the business ethics theories. The cases presented are very well described and right to the point based on the topics covered.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great text and fast read, September 17, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This book is an easy read and has very good case study and example of multinationals dealing with ethics issues. I suppose one challenge of the text is that it is outdated and many of the cases are from the late 90s, and there aren't any updates on what has happened to/with these cases since.

5.0 out of 5 stars Graduate level ethics, August 12, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is one of the best books I have had since being in school. The format is easy to understand and the references to cases are set up as law briefs, which helps the student to cite the information quickly and accurately. I would use and refer this book to other students of ethics in the future.

4.0 out of 5 stars A First-Rate Text, June 23, 2009

John Boatright's text is the only teaching text you'll ever need for a course in business ethics. Whatever the instructor finds missing can be supplemented, easily, with handouts (cases, articles etc.) However, Boatright might do well to rethink inclusion of the chapter on ethics in finance, which tracks his book on the subject. It seems odd to include a chapter dealing with ethics in only one industry. Also, there is much that this chapter leaves out, as the subject matter warrants a much broader treatment than is given either here or in Boatright's book on that subject. "Finance" refers to a very broad universe of activities, many of which are not addressed in this chapter. It is the only chapter I skip in my courses in business and professional ethics.

That said, this is a very good text, written in jargon-free language in chapters of reasonable length. I recommend it.
