4.0 out of 5 stars YOU CAN NEVER HAVE TOO MUCH GOOD COMMON SENSE, October 21, 2006

This was a very pleasant and grounding way to spend an hour and some odd minutes. The Dalai Lama sat down with a few different "panels" of guests talking about the state of the world. Guests included a few of my personal favorites including Dr. Helen Caldicott, Susan Sarandon and Dennis Kucinich. They discussed many aspects of what I see as one central problem in our world today. Lack of consciousness and people not recognizing their own power to inact positive change. The program has a lovely and powerful energy to it and even though nothing was said that I didn't already know, it provided a very healthy, grounding, reminder to me of what I already know. Which is so important when even the best of us can get knocked off balance by the stresses of day to day life. We need to stay in touch with what we already know to be true or what good can we be in the world. The Dalai Lama can, also, be quite funny. There was one point in the program where I, and the rest of the audience, laughed out loud. A very worth while program.

This is a wonderful opportunity to see the Dali lama in unique smiling form, as he answers many questions and shares his thoughts with great thinkers of today. an educational and compassionate venue of thoughtful perspectives on a chaotic and uncertain world.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ethics and the World Crisis, September 17, 2007

The words of wisdom spoken by both the Dalai Lama and others in this dialogue are both inspiring and a reminder that there is still a committment to peace, compassion and yes, humor, among thoughtful, dedicated leaders in our world. Helen Caldicott, Amy Goodman, Ben Cohen, Dennis Kucinich..we need their ideas more than ever.

5.0 out of 5 stars Listening..., July 1, 2011
By
This is not a lecture by His Holiness, but roving conversation with prominent American leaders @ New York City Town Hall. I've watched this DVD twice now, hearing anew things like the Dalai Lama's quiet call for an ethical Revolution --from the inside out.
It's somatically grounded in the human heart and mind and must occur BEFORE one externalizes into efforts toward peace and talking & listening with others. Panel participants came away praising his rare "authenic" voice, his strong leadership (he actually "moves" people) and I would add his ability not only to truly listen, but synthesize others' ideas and immediately incorporate them into his own expressed positions.
I heard the Future speaking in a multitude of visionary voices of what could be -- very hopeful and idealistic paean.

The Dalai Lama seems to have a presence that draws us in as human beings in a common struggle. This levels the playing field by acknowledging that we are all impacted by how each of us thinks and acts in our own world - that it matters what we say and do.
