4.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful, enthralling music., April 4, 2005
This review is from: Ethiopia: High Plateaux (Audio CD)
I am obsessed by Ethiopia and its culture, and am by no means an expert on any of it. I purchased this CD directly from Playasound's website and received the CD from France a mere week later. For once, an album had lived up to the online samples. This CD is magnificent. As I said, I know little about Ethiopian modes and scale, but traditional Ethiopian instruments are used on this CD: the washint flute, the krar (kirar), and kebero drums. Standout tracks are Foodhir, Piece Pour Krar, and Dinkara. The only thing I that I wish had been more extensive were the linear notes. But one can't have everything.

An exceptional world music CD.
