About the Author

Australian Gregory R. Copley is one of the few acknowledged experts in the fields of psychological strategy and grand strategy, and has served as strategic advisor to a number of governments, often at head-of-state level. He also served as Strategic Advisor to the late Emperor Amha Selassie I, of Ethiopia. He is the author of several thousand classified and unclassified studies on strategic issues, including books on history and strategic topics. He is the founding Editor of the "Defense & Foreign Affairs" series of publications, begun in 1972 with world-renowned strategic philosopher Dr Stefan T. Possony. Together, in 1982, they also started the International Strategic Studies Association, a worldwide NGO for professionals involved in strategic policy. Copley, who has covered conflicts and strategic situations first-hand for more than 35 years, is the author of numerous books and studies on Africa and the Middle East, including the "Defense & Foreign Affairs Handbo! ok on Egypt". Copley has edited, since 1976, the regularly-published "Defense & Foreign Affairs Handbook", a 1,800-page+ encyclopedia which has detailed chapters on every country, colony and territory in the world.

Australian Gregory Copley is President of the International Strategic Studies Association (ISSA), based in Washington, DC. He is also Editor-in-Chief of Defense & Foreign Affairs publications, and the Global Information System (GIS), an on-line, encrypted-access, global intelligence service which provides strategic current intelligence to governments. He is a founding Director of Future Directions International (FDI), the Australian strategic research institution. Gregory Copley is author of numerous books, and several thousand articles, papers, and lectures on strategic issues and history. His latest book, The Art of Victory (www.artofvictory.com) was published in October 2006 by Simon & Schuster in New York. His Washington-based institute has for more than three decades worked grand strategy issues, and he has advised a number of governments at head-of-state level. He appears regularly on radio and television in the United States and around the world, discussing issues of a strategic nature.
