This review is from: Abeba Goes to Bed, An Ethiopian Children's Book (French, German, English, and Amharic Edition) (French and German Edition) (English, French and German Edition) (Paperback)
This little tale has recently become a nightly favorite for my children and me. It is a delightful way to introduce kids of all ages to the richness of Ethiopian culture and spark their interests in foreign languages as well. Although the narrative is very simple, the graphics are wonderful and are sure to stir the curiosity of any child. It does seem a bit heavy with European languages and perhaps exchanging the German and French with Chinese and/or Arabic would truly give Abeba an international audience. The only downside to this book is now I have to ad lib when my daughters ask me what Abeba eats for dinner, or what Abeba wears to school. Overall it is a wonderful tale for the little ones just before bedtime. I enthusiastically recommend this one!

A comforting book for kids,
This review is from: Abeba Goes to Bed, An Ethiopian Children's Book (French, German, English, and Amharic Edition) (French and German Edition) (English, French and German Edition) (Paperback)
"Abeba Goes to Bed," is a very sweet introduction to the basic family unit. As Abeba goes to bed, we see her saying goodnite to the various member of the family, and finally, the moon and city. It is well put together, with large colorful illustrations, and a very pleasant read overall. Youngsters are certain to enjoy this, as are parents, to help ease little one to sleep.

I was looking for an Ethiopian children book for my godson and I stumbled upon 'Abeba Goes to Bed'. And I'm glad I did. He loves this bedtime story and he has started saying goodnight to everyone and everything before going to bed. The fact that it's written in four languages is a plus; and the Amharic lullaby at the end is an icing on the cake. I highly recommend this book.
