I wanted this book to inspire me, not necessary be an historical reference book. It did what I wanted, and so this is a happy customer. It is an oversize book, and the photos are nothing short of stunning.

Magnificent photos of ethnic jewelry. On a par with The Splender of Ethnic Jewelry, but the text is not as detailed.

My best friend designs jewelry and I noticed that she does not have any books on the subject. I purchased this book for Christmas with the thought that it would provide specific cultural knowledge and inspiration. It does both...also makes an excellent coffee table conversation piece. She was very surprised and pleased with her gift.

The collection on which this book draws is outstanding, with many pieces that are absolutely top class. The number of objects shown is limited. The photography is great, and the whole book is beautifully produced, with large size pages. It nevertheless is essentially a coffee-table book, as there is VERY scant information. Books of this type are not difficult to put together if you have the right pieces at hand, and it has to be said that already there are actually too many of this nature (i.e. books with beautiful pictures but little content otherwise). By comparison my wife Truus Daalder's *Ethnic Jewellery and Adornment* took her 7 years to put together and in it every object is carefully described and placed within its cultural context. Thus it is inevitably of far more use to genuine collectors. Nevertheless, there is a place for more superficial books of this kind, which on the whole show good pieces with brief captions, even if little more.
