This review is from: Ethnicity Challenged: The Upper Midwest Norwegian-American Experience in World War 1 (Topical Studies #3) (Hardcover)
Carl Chrislock shows he understands the Norwegian-American communities and their challenges leading up to, during and after World War I. The book exhaustively covers the diverse problems Norwegian-Americans faced during this era and with assimilating to American culture as well.

I purchased this book hoping to get better insight into the challenges my great-grandparents and other relatives faced at this time and came away with a much better understanding and appreciation for them.

The biggest complaint about the book is it does not progress in a logical chronological manner, which would seem to be a rather obvious approach. The book jumps backwords and forwards chronologically, making it a challenging read. The author would have done better to have kept the book organized chronologically as it would be easier to follow.
