It is a shame that amazon is currently out of stock of Austin Osman Spare's Ethos. This is truly a one of a kind book from a very unique thinker. The book deals a large amount with Spare's personal philosophy and views on Magick. Spare introduces one of the most practical and important inventions of modern magick, the sigil. A pictorial representation of a desire used to send deep into the subconscious during a state of no mind.

Spare's writing is by no means an easy read, the majority of people will probably have to re-read his concepts a number of times before they can truly grasp what Spare is saying. If amazon just so happens to restock, don't miss your chance to pick up this book, an amazing read.

If you don't mind the endless, and just plain old puerile, Christophobic hate speech then this is an interesting read. He was most definitely a talented artist as well as being very adept at a sort of stream of consciousness prose, which I really dig. And he makes some deep points from time to time.. but ya gotta really dig for it, and often times step wayyyy back from it, in order to really see(if that were possible) whats going on and how it is relevant for your own life. My only qualms is his obvious vicious hatred for other religions.. live and let live... until they physically don't let you.. and at that point the deal is off.

If you the individual are interested in accessing the unconscious portion of your own mind, tapping directly into Kia, this book will be invaluable in your spiritual/magickal endeavors. The context of the writing itself is very hard to understand, and may take several readings to intellectually digest, but well worth the effort put forth. If you are a first time reader too Austin Osman Spare; you will encounter [true magick] which is completely unadulterated by today's psuedo white-washing. ETHOS is an complete grimoire pertaining to Austin Osman Spare's psychonautic explorations into the recesses of the abyssic subconsciousness. This book is a valuable addition to any sorcerer's library. "Highly recommended!"

This is the best book on Amazon of Spare's written work. Phil Baker's biography is a masterpiece and should be read either at the same time as Ethos or before. There are a couple of other "collected works" of Spare's on Amazon but they're poorly produced Createspace jobs. Ethos is a must for anyone interested in Spare.
