Etymotic headset is a 5 star choice!,

Great headset! The earpeice takes a bit of getting used to, but once you become familiar with the 'in the ear' design, the reward is an extremely clear conversation... even in noisy environments. I often participate in long conference calls that, due to time zone consraints, must be taken in my car. The noise cancelling microphone eliminates all nackground noise from being transmitted to the distant end. Those at the other end of the line often assume I am sitting in my office, not a moving vehicle. The I can't say enough to express how clear and natural the sound is (both sending and receiving) when using this headset.

I recently purchased this Ety*Com headset for use primarily in my car. I have a convertible which yields a challenging environment for headsets with wind noise plus engine and road sounds. I had tried several other wired and Bluetooth headsets (most significantly more expensive than the Etymotic) with various passive or active noice cancelling functions in order to find something that would let me both listen and be heard by my callers while driving w/ the top down.
The Ety*Com yields excellent sound quality while your listening to the person on the other end. I was able to listen to the other caller w/ top down at highway speeds, even on the lowest volume setting from the handset. The speaker is of high quality and the molded tips essentially block out other external sounds from reaching that ear. The mic is also excellent, and can be used as is or in conjunction with two foam wind covers which are included with the headset. I found the best results using the large foam cover over the boom mic, if you're using it in less windy settings than a convertible you may do fine without it. I was able to carry on a conversation with the top down, no problem. At lower speeds, the other person said they couldn't tell I was in a car. At 75-80mph they could hear some noise in the background, but had no difficulty in hearing me speak. It's worth noting that some may find the earpiece uncomfortable as it's inserted into your ear similar to a foam ear plug. The earpiece is identical to other Etymotic head phones if you're familiar w/ those, and it comes with various sized tips so you should be able to find one that fits your ear shape. I have a pair of ER-6's so I was used to the earpiece, and I like the fact that there are no over ear loops or things which make it difficult to wear the headset w/ sunglasses or a hat. Only downside is that the insertion technique usually requires two hands, so this is not a headset that you might fish out of the glovebox and pop in your hear within the timespan of 2-3 rings. It would be nice to have a mute and/or volume control on the cord, but that's about the only complaint I have. Excellent headset, after much searching I've found the perfect one for me.

The last headset you will ever buy.,

I spend a lot of time on my cell phone, particularly in my car. I tried dozens of different headsets before spending the extra money on this one. Prior to this, the Jabra Earboom was the best one I found in both comfort and sound. That said, the sound was actually just mediocre--but since many others make you sound like you are calling from the airport, mediocre is actually good.
The package includes a bunch of different ear tips--foam, and several earplug styles in different sizes. I have teeny tiny ear canals and none of them worked for me. Ety Com will mold you an earbud for a nominal fee if you go to a local audiologist and spend about $5 to have an ear impression made. Once that is done, you have a custom tip and this headset will be comfortable even if you use it for several hours. The sound quality is superb. It is better than any other headset by far; nobody knows I am on a headset and the noise blocking is fantastic. You can speak normally even when you have to contend with a lot of background noise and your voice comes through loud and clear. The only thing I would say could improve this product is some kind of cordwinder for storage. Other than that, it is flawless and yes, it really is worth the money.
