Is his latest album, Hermeto Paschoal exhibits all that has made him famous worldwide. Everything is there: the atmospherical surrouding, the complex harmonies and, of course, the weirdest musical instruments in the world. Hermeto plays tea pots, toys, and ever sings with his mouth full of water. Everything is an instrument in his hands. The band is also amazing, both in technics and harmony. It's brazillian music at it's best, so, if your interested in south-american culture or ever world music,

buy it!

HERMETO "RETURNED" LAST YEAR WITH THIS NEW CD, HIS FIRST IN YEARS. IT IS THE 2ND TIME HE HAS PRODUCED A RECORDING PERFORMING ON ALL THE INSTRUMENTS, VIRTUE OF "OVERDUBBING" ( CEREBRO MAGNETICO,A MASTERPIECE IS OUT OF PRINT ON LP, AND NEVER ISSUED AS A CD- A SHAME). IT WOULD BE REDUNDANT FOR ME TO CARRY ON & ON ABOUT HERMETO, (SEE MY OTHER AMAZON REVIEWS FOR THAT). THIS CD HAS A "DIFFERENT" "SWING" - IT FEELS MORE LIKE A "DEMO" RECORDING- THOSE WHO HAVE HEARD HERMETO FOR YEARS(SINCE 1970 FOR ME)MIGHT BE ABLE TO IMAGINE THESE SAME COMPOSITIONS APPEARING ON THIS CD BEING PERFORMED BY HERMETO'S CLASSIC "O GRUPO" FORMAT, OR WITH HIS CURRENT WORKING BANDS. Hermeto Pascoal's brilliance cannot be overstated! This man emits music from every single pore of his body. He finds his music in all of his surroundings, producing organic, soulful, universal sounds. On this release, we get to hear Hermeto solo, using all acoustic instruments, traditional and non traditional, all to stunning effect. I was blessed enough to see him play some of this material live. This man wails on air pump, water glass, and childrens toys like no one else! And the compositions are beautiful, as always. Rhythmically and harmonically advanced, unique and joyful! Anybody serious about improvisation, composition and innovative music should own this!
