4.0 out of 5 stars San Diego Rock and Roll
Reviewer: A music fan from San Jose, CA United States
If you like Drive Like Jehu, Hot Snakes, Rocket From The Crypt, and/or any of San Diego Punk Rock icon John Reis's works, Pitchfork's album "Eucalyptus" is incredible stuff. Pitchfork came out prior to it all and is worth buying if you can find it (the cd contains three tracks from an ep which weren't on...

2.0 out of 5 stars Just OK
The more talented members of this band went on to bigger and better things. The songs are pretty good, and the guitar/vocals/production all great. What really lets this band down is the terrible rhythm section. I'm not expecting George Hurley or anything, but when the drummer can't even keep time, you've got problems. You'll be just getting into a song and suddenly it...

Pitchfork came out prior to it all and is worth buying if you can find it (the cd contains three tracks from an ep which weren't on the lp. It's a shame the bass player left and that Reis dissolved the band. But we got Jehu, Rocket, and the Snakes as compensation. Not bad at all! Anyway, buy it if can stand to listen to music as cool as this.
(Just recently found out Swami Records is scheduled to re-release this album Feb. 2003)

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing recordings, October 11, 2009

These guys were it in another time, another place. Yes, these guys went on to bigger better projects, or did they? Of course they did but with amazing powerhouses like: drop dead, thin ice, new kid, sinking, and the rest you get some pretty amazing recordings that make a person feel inspired to play guitar, paint a picture, whatever. I don't have a genre they could fall under. I guess the faster tempos could start a pit, but it's not really that either, just good music. Encinitas, CA at it's best.

What really lets this band down is the terrible rhythm section. I'm not expecting George Hurley or anything, but when the drummer can't even keep time, you've got problems. You'll be just getting into a song and suddenly it speeds up/slows down/stumbles due to appalling drumming. Shame, as I really wanted to like it. Eventually cut my losses and put it on ebay.
