This review is from: The Eucharistic Hymns of John And Charles Wesley (Paperback)
This archive of unfamiliar hymns is tremendous. I found very strong Christology and Trinitarial texts throughout the hymn colection. Many can be sung to familiar tunes and can be used in our worship services. Sadly it does not clarify whether the listed hymns are written by Charles or John. Other than that shortcoming, I found it a great resource for refreshing "new" worship music.

Good reading,
By J. Robert Ewbank (Mobile, Alabama) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Eucharistic Hymns of John And Charles Wesley (Paperback)
Rattenbury has done an excellent job of collecting the hymns of John and Charles Wesley pertaining to the Lord's Supper, or Communion. He has provided strong commentary to help the reader understand the thought of the Wesley's. It is good to see Wesley's theology presented so clearly and forcefully. As the other comment said there is no distinction between the Wesley's as to who wrote each hymn, but they all had to be approved by John before they would have been published. A layman can read this book and enjoy learning about the Lord's Supper.J. Robert Ewbank, author of "John Wesley, Natural Man, and the 'Isms'I |
