4.0 out of 5 stars Great Album from a Great Band
Although it's not the best release from the get up kids, it is one that hardcore fams that don't own all the 7's will want to pick up. Hell, I'd pay 13 bucks just to have the breathing method and up on the roof *(the two best songs on the album). But if you are looking to buy an album by the get up kids, pick up somthing to write home about first.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sincerely Feelings, October 10, 2002
This review is from: Eudora (Audio CD)
Well, I see everybody saying a lot of bad things about this record. Their covers are just beautiful...especially when they transform eletronic based musics like New Order's Regret and Cure's Close to me...the way they just made with guitars...its awesome...and what I like the most in this record, and probably in the band...is the way they express feelings so well...in Forgive and Forget...Shorty...Central Standard Time....Im a Loner Dottie a Rebel...it's all good....and even the slowest ones like Newfound Mass and The Breathing Method can keep u up...it surely worth every penny u spent on it...and if u dont have it...what r u waiting for?

4.0 out of 5 stars Familiar but at the same time refreshing..., December 2, 2001
This review is from: Eudora (Audio CD)
Ok when we sit here and look at the tracklisting for this release... you'll say to yourself, i've heard most of these songs. That's what i thought when i got it, but then i listened to it and it's surprisingly refreshing. Sure there are some old songs on here but they all sound different enough to find them refreshing. Plus the unreleased stuff is great like Central Standard Time, Up On the Roof, Impossible Outcomes. If you people haven't already downloaded some of these songs from somewhere then you are in for a treat. Newfound Mass 2000 is one of the most beautiful songs i've ever heard. It's almost 60 minutes of a good time all the way through. I recommend this album just for the unreleased stuff. The different versions of older songs are just cherries on top especially Ten Minutes. Can't get enough of that guitar solo! I'm giving it four stars just because i wouldn't really call it a new album by them. I take it more like a little snack before their new album comes out mid next year!

I must say, in writing this review I am unwaveringly biased, in my own humble opinion everything this band touches turns to gold. And, as a fan it is really nice to have the b-sides, compilation tracks, import only tracks, and covers brought together, so as to avoid extensive searching.

This album houses some of TGUK's brightest moments. There is an insanely distinct variation of moods and melodies on this album and some of the stand out tracks, and my personal favorites are: Up on the roof, (Cure's cover) Close to Me, Sufrogate City, Alec Eiffel, Impossible Outcomes, Shorty, and On with the Show.

Impossible Outcomes is one of my favorite songs of all time, it transcends so many different qualities i yearn for in music and does so flawflessy and effortlessly. The vocals seem to float above the melodies yet have a seemless integration that makes me shout this chorus whenever and wherever the track graces my ears. I would spend 15 dollars just for this song, and with that purchase you get 16 other rockin joints for free....so, leave now and don't return until you own this album....

If you like the Get Up Kids, buy this cd. If you like Get Up Kids styled emo, buy this cd. If you like rock music, buy this CD. If you like bands such as Motley Crue or the Cure whom TGUK covered, buy this cd

A great collection of songs that will never get old. A great release from TGUK. Good to tide you over til their next album comes out.

5.0 out of 5 stars TGUK - rock my socks off since 8th grade, January 16, 2003

and wow. i'm graduating this year. that's got to tell you something. ever since I have heard then on the Lazer Local Music show... Yeah. Back when they were local to NE Kansas. Wow.

Anyhow, I have all of the Get Up Kids. I even have some of their 7" records. Even though I've never listened to them. I don't have a record player.

But, this CD was awesome. It was nice to hear all those songs which I could never hear before. Like I said, The Get Up Kids have been my favorite band since the eighth grade. And this CD was a great compilation of all the years. Hopefully, they'll get big and make a whole bunch more CD's and I can live in harmony for the rest of my days, yay.

4.0 out of 5 stars Get -Up -And-Listen-Kid, April 29, 2002
This review is from: Eudora (Audio CD)
i recently purchased Eudora from the Get Up Kids and was really amped to find that it was as good as i had hoped. i would reccomend this to CD to a first time listener, or a long time fan. this is a great CD to get a taste of the Get Up Kids since it has new and old songs on it for your listening pleasure-Get Up Kids have a style all their own and i find it hard to compare their music with other bands of the type-- so what are you waiting for?? get off your seat and go buy this CD for goodness sake-- you won't regret it.

4.0 out of 5 stars B.D. - Before Dewees, March 20, 2002

The song from the split with Coalesce is on this disk. This collection shows just how good the kids were before James Dewees brought that terrible keyboard into the mix. Although I am a huge fan of the Reggie & The Full Effect, I think the Get Up Kids were in their prime, and at their best with the first two records. I like this release a lot, simply because they included 'The Breathing Method' and the first version of 'Shorty'. As elitist as it sounds, this brand of music was at it's best in the mid '90's. At this day and age, most of the people listening to them now, were about 9 to 10 years old at the first point of release. The GUK deserve every bit of success and listenership they get though, it's just the music isn't nearly as good as it was in the beginning...

5.0 out of 5 stars a great starter album, January 29, 2002

If you are thinking about picking out an album by the Get up kids, this is the one. I bought this album on a feeling after reading some reviews. I was like okay, I'll give this album a try. I was so excited after hearing the album. The song "Forgive and forget" was quite possible the coolest song I have heard in a long time. I felt the song come out of the speakers and grab a hold of me, slap me in the face and say, yo, this is what we are and your gonna like it. I was like right on, you all rock. I then had to go and purchase all of there other stuff. So stop reading this article and buy the album.
