A superb C.D. with some terrific Euphonium playing,
By A Customer
This review is from: Eufish (Audio CD)
This is one of the best Euphonium recordings I have heard. Mark Fisher brings an origionality to his playing, particularly in the J.S. Bach and Telemann, which makes a refreshing change to the often heavy handed style of many Euphonium players. There is a subtlety and sensitivity to the playing which makes this recording a pleasure to listen to both for Euphonium enthusiasts and lovers of classical music generally.

Awesome playing by Mark Fisher. I heard him live at the 2000 ITEC in Canada, along with Bowman, Mead and many other vary talented players. This is my favorite euphonium recording I own, and is a must have for all.

A wonderful introduction to the euphonium with a variety of time periods and styles. Great virtuoso playing and a clean, crisp, you-are-there production. Highly recommended for all brass fans and euphonium students.

Eufish is an excellent album. Mark Fisher plays the euphonium superb and it sounds wonderful. Only one thing I don't like... the movements should've been recorded separately for each track in the continuo in F minor instead of cutting it into tracks. I liked some movements better than others :D.
Aside from that, very nice.

This is a superbly done CD. Pianist and euphonium player work great together. Listen to the nuances in phrasing in the Bach. Pianist is every bit as superb as the euphonium soloist. Bravo!!!

Sonata for flute & keyboard in E flat major, second movement, (Siciliano)was my favorite. I was moved to tears. #26 on this CD from the Carnival of Venis was played and recorded so well that I had to move my chair back a bit. I mean this in the kindest way,I'm sure I could feel the spit fly! (I have an new sterio) That counter melody thing is astonishing! You must hear it.

These two childhood friends from State Street in Mason City, IA grew up across the street from each other. Now twenty five years later they are the perfect match in the beautiful album. The CD solution for a soothing drive home.

Fine Euphonium Solos,
This review is from: Eufish (Audio CD)
Mark Fisher is a fine euphist with excellent technique and tone, and the musical selections are very good.
I would give the album 4 stars and not 5, however, as I really think that his music lacks the flair and personal style of David Childs or Adam Frey. Based on this album (I have never heard Mr. Fisher live) I would rate Mark Fisher as an outstanding musician -- but not a euphonium superstar.
