5.0 out of 5 stars Not up and coming/Euge Groove Has Arrived, May 7, 2001
By
Michael Romeo (Palmer, Alaska United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Euge Groove (Audio CD)
The explosion you hear on smooth jazz stations is that of the finest CD this year Euge Groove. From front to back this is smooth jazz in the classic form. Do you love a sweet saprano sax and a hard driving tenor sax. Sprinkle in wonderful recurring melodies, funky driving rhythms, R&B, a little scat and great vocals and you have a possible Oais Award for best album for Steve Grove. The cut you probably heard on the jazz stations is the first cut on this musical journey track #1 Romeo & Juliet. However, when you go further on this cd you start to appreciate its diversity. Track # 2 Sneek a Peak, gives you just a beautiful soulful sound of Grooves Tenor sax work from his playing with TOP. Track # 3 Vinyl, hits you with the funky and yet sultry, Grooves soprano sax. Track #4 Give in to Me, launches us into the soulful vocals of JC Chasez from the boy band NSYNC. The match is just perfect between the vocals and sax of Grove and Chasez,in addition to the terrific backround harmoney. I can go on and on about how great this debut work is. But you need to definitly add this to your collection. Then kick back with your lover with a glass of wine or your faviorte smoke and appreciate, Groove and Track # 6 TENDERHEARTED LOVER. She will love you for it................

5.0 out of 5 stars Groove with the Grove...Chantez with Chasez, October 18, 2000

This review is from: Euge Groove (Audio CD)
My favorite SF smooth jazz radio station always played a song I enjoyed so much, but I always missed the part when the artist, album, and track names were announced. Sometimes I would hear the name Euge Groove mentioned but never made the connection. I visited the *NSync website one day and found that JC Chasez (an *NSync member) did a song on Steve Grove's album. I had to check it out. I sampled the songs and found out 2 things: (a) JC, whom I enjoy a lot, has a very sultry side -- just listening to him hit those dissonant, yet at times mellifluous, tunes makes me melt -- I enjoy him even more; and (b) the song on my fave jazz station that I love so much was none other than Euge Groove's Vinyl. So I bought the CD for 2 reasons: Vinyl and Give in to Me. But I took a listen to the entire CD and found all the songs to be a delight. Steve G. has a very sexy and seductive style. After all, that's what jazz is -- sexy and seductive. He's definitely up there with David Sanborn and Andy Snitzer. Ab fab, baby! So for all of you jazz ears and/or JC fans, this is a must-have. I give it a zillion stars!

5.0 out of 5 stars Smooth Euge, July 18, 2002
By
This review is from: Euge Groove (Audio CD)
I was asleep one night with the radio turned on to my favorite jazz station. I was awakened at around 3:00 a.m. by this tune that sounded so smooth and sexy. I waited to hear who the artist was and the song. And it was Euge (Tenderhearted Lover). The next day, I went to the store and bought it. And I wasn't disappointed. For the first time ever, I loved every track on one CD. My fav's are Tenderhearted Lover, Vinyl, and Lay It Down.
Its smooth, something you can listen to when it's dark outside and you're relaxing by candlelight with your lover.
I just ordered his sophomore album "Play Date". I'm hoping it is just as good as the self titled debut. I would recommend this album without hesitation. It's beautiful, intelligent track appointments, and easy on the ears for your listening pleasure.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Smooth Jazz!, May 13, 2003
This review is from: Euge Groove (Audio CD)
"Euge Groove" is a great jazz album that displays Steve Grove's impeccable skills with the saxaphone. Now, I'm not just saying all of this because he happens to be from my hometown, but because it's true. He blends sensuality, pain, love, and so many other emotions into his songs. Each person can interpret the songs differently, which makes this CD so great!

My favorite song on the CD is "Give In To Me" which features vocals from JC Chasez. It was interesting to hear this different side of JC, especially since all we had heard from him was what he did with *NSYNC. It was really brave in commendable of Steve Grove to include this track on the CD, even though it may have been JC and his song that brought the CD a lot of attention. However, without overshadowing Steve Grove's talents, he made a wise decision of including this track.

All in all, this is a good CD. So if you want to listen to some of the smoothest jazz out there, buy this CD!

5.0 out of 5 stars As Good as it Gets, August 10, 2002

If you have read all the reviews of this album they all talk about the vocals and the first 5 tracks. Steven Grove lays it on the line in track 7, Truly Emotional. If you think you love jazz then listen to this track. If you don't feel the power and emotion in this cut then maybe you better check and see if you have a pulse. Buy this CD! You will play it over and over again.
This is one of those must own discs for anyones collection and will make you feel totally alive.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sexy and smooth, but not made for elevators, February 1, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Euge Groove (Audio CD)
I'm getting a little burnt out on most smooth jazz. As a musician myself, I can't help but notice how many current CDs just sound like demos - the backing tracks are almost an afterthought, providing the soloist a platform for their pyrotechnics.

This CD is beautifully produced - they really succeeded in achieving some marvelous moods. A little more distinctive than a lot of the current "love jazz" out there.

We all know the current sax superstars, and their efforts are usually decent, if predictable. I say give this guy a listen - it's in the same vein as the Big Guys, but with its own kind of mellow sexiness. If that makes any sense. Enjoy!

PS - And ya gotta love the artist's name, a nickname coming from his middle name (Eugene) and his last (Grove).

5.0 out of 5 stars Groovin', May 21, 2000

Great jazz sax works! Especially liked Romeo & Juliet. Thought it was a real hit on MP3, this re-mix is even better. The soothe jazz sounds were awesome and deserves some play at home and on the airwaves. The unique sax sound of Euge is much different from others. Great welcome to the urban jazz scene.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great album... Featuring *NSYNC!, May 4, 2000
By
Christy Chasez (CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Euge Groove (Audio CD)
This album is a great one, considering jazz music is timeless.... But if you're a hardcore *NSYNC fan like I am, you have another reason to buy this CD- track 4, "Give In To Me", features none other than JC on lead vocals, and the rest of the guys on backup! That song is actually a song that *NSYNC sang on their demo tape back when they were starting out, but it's known to most *NSYNC fans by another name- "Give Me The Love I Need". And those of you who are hardcore MMC also, Tony, Dale, and another MMC-er whose name escapes me at this moment are also on that track. A definite must-buy for any Jazz fan, or any *NSYNC fan!

5.0 out of 5 stars Smooth is the word, April 9, 2003
By
This review is from: Euge Groove (Audio CD)
Mr. Grove sure has done a wonderful job with this CD. There is not one track I skipped and when I listen to this, I find myself letting it play from beginning to end over and over. From the slow and soulful to the smooth and uptempto, Euge sure does have a groove. I would recommend this to anyone who feels the need to be taken from one tempo to the next, one mood to the next, one plateau to the next in a span of less than 70 minutes. Pick up your copy today, you will not be disappointed!

4.0 out of 5 stars EUGE GROOVE, June 11, 2001

This cd is excellent. I place Euge Groove right up there with Boney James and he is tops. The track sneak-a-peek is my favorite. The cd is very sexy and like Dave Koz, you can feel the music. I am very pleased with my purchase.
