Note: I loved Eureka's Model 313A so much my review has almost 6000 helpful votes on it. Now that we have two homes I'm in the market for a second steam mop and so far nothing outperforms Eureka's model 313A, including this one. They went cheap on this one. I dislike many things about it although I was a raving fan for their first model.

Here is my original review comparing steam mops that I wrote years ago. I have updated it to compare this mop as well:

Know going in If you get the Envirosteamer 313A or this one, model 150A, know that, though the 313A cleans the best, the first two times you use both of them the water goes through holes faster than it will in subsequent uses, so it will go through steam faster and your floors will be wetter than normal. Enough people wrote me to know this happened the first one or two times as it did my first time of use, then after that the mop was normal, our floors are great and it lasts waaayh longer. We don't know why. Just know that going in. After the first two initializing uses it steams perfect! Also obviously the steam lasts longest if you don't hold the mop above the floor to walk to another area since the steam pours out as it will with any steam mop if you do.

Also note: the reason some mops aren't all 212 degrees is the tank is on the handle rather than the base so the steam cools prior to it reaching the floor. It becomes steam at 212. But doesn't stay there.

There have been several updates to this review as I got to compare other mops.

Original review:

I live in a neighborhood where EVERY home is "green built certified" this means that, to have that certification, the builder built no homes with carpet. All the main floors are polished concrete and the upper floors wood.

Verified Purchase

First english is not my fist language so please forgibe me is something is write in a strange way.

I received this steamer yesterday after purchasing from Amazon. It came in the original packaging within a box from Amazon and the delivery time was swift and smooth.

Assemble the device was extremely easy, since it is essentially just a matter of putting the floornozzle and the handle in place and is ready to be used. Fill it with water is very easy because the water container is removable and does not require a funnel as in other models.

Now the operation. The switch has three settings: off (green), low steam (red) and high steam (blue). In any mode in about 15 to 30 seconds the steam flowing at maximum capacity.

The accessories that come in the package are: 1 floor cleaner microfiber pad (blue) and 1 of cotton (white), a nozzle for cleaning glass and surfaces that have a microfiber kind of cleaning pouch and a nozzle of nylon brushes for cleaning. Also comes a plastic base that serves to lay the device when wet and so not to wet the floor. The electric cable is an acceptable length for a med-large room and the cable is very flexible making it easy to maneuver.

The floor cleaner maneuverability is excellent, although it does require some practice to handle it well. Still, I had not trouble cleaning under the bed, in corners, under furniture or in areas with unusual shape corners.

The only thing I was not happy is the steam temperature. For some reason the steam seems to be plentiful but from the moment you clean the floor is noticed that the temperature is not the adequate since the amount residual water on the floor is abundant to the point that using a regular mop can be almost identical or even less mesy.

Got this to replace a Shark handheld steamer which worked really well but was awkward and heavy to hold. This is much easier to hold in its handheld form, and as a mop it works really nice also. I cleaned my whole kitchen with this including granite counters, marble floors, stainless appliances and even inside the microwave and in all the nooks/crannies around the appliances. Blasted the burnt-on food right off the stovetop. I got junk out of those little hiding places that has probably been there for 5 years when we bought the house. I'm looking at my floors right now across the room, and they are gleaming. I got the base model which lacks the extension hose and extra cleaning pads, so I'm trying to locate a place to buy those. My only qualms are that it doesn't come with extra cleaning pads for the floor mop, and that it doesn't have a garment attachment. Otherwise, great price for a basic, but simple and useful device. A word to the wise, do plan to wipe off surfaces that are very dirty...the steamer won't make the dirt disappear, it will loosen it and you'll need to sponge it off when you're done.

Having been through a couple of other steam mops, I approached this item in comparison to the BISSELL Steam Mop Select, Titanium, 94E9T and BISSELL Steam Mop Deluxe Hard Floor Cleaner, 31N1 both of which are good quality products. We'll assume, in the absence of finely tuned measuring equipment that steam is steam (water in vapor form > 100 degrees C).

Physical - the Eureka is lighter weight than either of the Bissells, making it a bit easier to wield. The water reservoir has slightly less capacity than the Bissells, though I seldom have run the reservoir empty on any of the mops in question, those with larger floor space to clean might find this an annoyance. The handle retracts for smaller storage space and the cord is longer than those on the Bissells by several feet, allowing for greater coverage (I tend to find that I can clean a single room with the Bissells without moving the plug, but must move it from room to room).

Operation - use filtered water for both the Eureka and Bissell 94E9T, the Bissell 31N1 has a built-in filter. I am partial to the 94E9T's corner forward triangle mop head (easier access to corners), the 31N1 is your standard rectangle, the Eureka is trapezoidal in shape and works well enough. The mop covers for the Bissells are a bit more durable, actual covers, where the Eureka's are semi-firm layer of cloth that velcroes to the bottom of the mop (plus and minus here, easy to position and remove, but less durable in my opinion), though all of them are washable.
