4.0 out of 5 stars Love this machine!!!!
I was afraid I had made a mistake after reading the reviews, but I have had nothing but great cleanings with this machine!! My carpets look great and were dry in about 2 1/2 hours every time. I absolutely love the handle design because I can easily use two hands when I clean...saves me from the back pain I used to experience from my old Hoover. Also, it doesn't get heavy...

3.0 out of 5 stars soap leaked out
I just hooked up my new one and the soap container leaked all the soap out into the machine and onto the floor before I turned it on. I called Eureka and they are sending me a new soap container. I asked for a new bottle of soap and they said they had none in stock. In my opinion, they should've offered to send at least a couple bottles when it came in. Nope. It's a...

4.0 out of 5 stars Love this machine!!!!, January 6, 2005
This review is from: Eureka 2595A Atlantis Deep Steam Cleaner/Extractor (Kitchen)
Also, it doesn't get heavy or hard to push as the dirty tank fills up. I didn't have any problems with the suction. My husband noticed a tab that must be removed from the collection tank before the first use, otherwise the dirty water will not fill the tank properly and the machine will leak. Perhaps that is part of the problem some of the other consumers have had. The only thing I don't like is that I have to fill the clean water tank during cleaning, and it's hard to see the clean water level while cleaning. Otherwise, I LOVE THIS!! I like the easy-to-reach buttons on the handle and the slide shampoo control that I can change with my foot!

GREAT BUY!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best extractor out there, May 3, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Eureka 2595A Atlantis Deep Steam Cleaner/Extractor (Kitchen)
I run a housekeeping department at a large resort and spa. I originally bought the 2591 used it, loved it, then found I needed the power scrubber and floor tools, so i returned it and got the 2595a, it is so powerful that 90% of all the water put out gets sucked back in. it is not the best on burber carpet. No back aches, it rolls easily, i use commercial products at work and I am thinking of buying a few of these instead of the ones i use at work that cost 3 times as much and do the same job.

I asked for a new bottle of soap and they said they had none in stock. In my opinion, they should've offered to send at least a couple bottles when it came in. Nope. It's a pain that I had to use the machine just to clean up its own mess, and then clean it out, and wait til next weekend to do my carpets. But I like its features so I'll give it a try.

Edited to add that I returned the product because it didn't work well at all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Compact but powerful!, July 21, 2004

I used to have a Bissel Deep Cleaner until it finally stopped spraying and then stopped sucking up water. I thought about getting a Hooever V2, but my mom has one and the upper tank keeps leaking. So, I thought I'd try the Atlantis, especially since it folds down. When I opened it up, I was initially disappointed because the water tank looked smaller than I thought. But it does hold quite a bit of water and I can do almost my entire bedroom on one tank, depending on how dirty some areas are. It does a great job of getting the water from the carpet and the carpet was dry in just a few hours. I like that you can vary the amount of cleaner being mixed in with a little slide lever or just slide it to "rinse". The handle allows you to use both hands and the spray button in the middle is very convenient. I found it was easy to move the machine around, despite it being a little heavy to lift. I have dogs and cats, so I LOVE that the front shield can be taken off by just sliding the 2 tabs in front up. No screws to fiddle with, no tabs to press in simultaneously... it's so easy to get all the stuck fur out!

As for cleaning power, well, I had some dirty doggy paw prints in the carpet for about a month. I figured at the very least I could get them less prominent, but just a few passes with the Atlantis and you can't even tell where they were! Even in areas where I didn't think the carpet was that dirty, after cleanng it, it looks ten times better! I was able to clean 900 sq. ft. in only a couple of hours.

Initially, I did have to fiddle and prime the nozzles on the bottom of the clean water tank and solution tank before the machine would start spraying correctly. Not a big deal, I just pushed them in once or twice with my finger. With this machine and my new Dyson Animal vacuum, my house should be immaculate! This is a great product and a great buy as some of the other machines out there are over 200 dollars! And they take up more room!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Machine for the Money, October 30, 2004
This review is from: Eureka 2595A Atlantis Deep Steam Cleaner/Extractor (Kitchen)
After reading the reviews, I was worried that I had made the wrong choice when I purchase this machine on sale for $130. I was pleased with the results. I live in the country with two dogs and two kids, so I need something that will clean spots and high traffic areas on my 6 month old berber carpet.
It is very easy to use and clean. I found that the built in heater kept the water hot. At first I was disappointed in the amount of water and dirt it extracted, but then realized I did not have the dirty tank pushed down correctly and it was clogged with dog hair ( even after I had just vacuumed ) My carpets dried in under two hours and looked great even after a few days when spots always seem to reappear.
I like the stair attachments, the easily removable shield for cleaning and the ease of use of this machine. It is much better than the rental machines. It also works great on the kitchen floor.
I like the seperate tanks that I found easy to remove and refill. But you can not completly empty the tanks for storage and they do drip when refilling.
All in all its a good machine for the money.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for people with kids, June 25, 2004
This review is from: Eureka 2595A Atlantis Deep Steam Cleaner/Extractor (Kitchen)
I got the carpet cleaner about a month ago and so far I think I got what I payed for. I have a two year old and this carpet cleaner has been a real life saver while living in an apartment. The only bad thing about it is that when I pack it up and put it away the soap leaks out into the clean water container and onto my floor where is has been sitting. I have fallowed all of the instructions on how to store it and nothing seams to help. This is the first carpet cleaner I have gotten and so far compared to the one's you rent I am happy. If you are looking to buy this carpet cleaner please look around to find the best price because the differ from store to store.

2.0 out of 5 stars Leaks a Lot., August 19, 2004

I can't recommend this machine because of its problem with leaking soap, clean water, and dirty water. It also does not suck the water back up very well, especially on hard surfaces. I had to pass it over many times to get some, but not all, of the water off the floor. It will leave your carpet very wet due to its leaking problem. It is also very large and cumbersome. I sold mine on eBay and am now buying a Bissell.

1.0 out of 5 stars Same problems as everyone else. . ., August 20, 2004
This review is from: Eureka 2595A Atlantis Deep Steam Cleaner/Extractor (Kitchen)
I am really disappointed in this product. It is a strong brand and the design features like the folding handle are excellent.

Unfortunately as others have said the soap and clean water tanks leaked. The soap leaked into the clean water, and just all over the place.

The biggest problem though is that it doesn't suck the water back up that it sprays out. I went over the carpet several times without spraying anything, and although I used nearly 2 tanks of clean water the dirty water container was only 1/4 full. . . so a well over a tank of water was soaking my carpet (it actually sloshed around my feet as I walked).

It's going back tomorrow.

I read all the reviews before buying this product, and for the cost I thought it was worth a try. It appeared to me that the people who complained about the product perhaps weren't using it correctly.
The extractor is pretty much ready to go out of the box. There was an extra foam pad that was enclosed inside the manual's plastic bag that took me awhile to figure out where it went. It was actually an extra filter for the collection tank.
Eureka bills this product as a "steam" extractor, but for what I can tell, there is not heating element onboard. If you put hot water in, you get hot water out. It doesn't actually heat it into a steam.
I cleaned my carpet on a nice day, so I kept all the windows open and ran a fan over it as soon as I could. The carpet was dry enough to walk on within a few hours. The heavy traffic areas I cleaned twice, so those areas stayed a little damp until the next morning.
As for the complaints about this product causing aching backs, I'm not sure how it's possible. You push it and pull it, just like any other carpet cleaner. It moves quite easily and is not that heavy.
One last comment, the fresh water and collection tanks aren't huge, so you'll be filling up and emptying often.
All in all, I think the price and the performance are worth it and I feel I can finally keep my carpets clean with 3 kids in the house!

I got my Altantis last week and used it for the first time over the weekend. I usually rent a cleaner from my local grocery store and cleaned these same carpets with a rented machine 6 months ago. The Atlantis was so much easier to use! I went over each section of carpet twice and my carpets were completly dry in less than 2 hours. I love the fact that the handle folds for easy stoage and the entire unit (including attachments) fits under a shelf in my linen closet. This is the first cleaner I have ever purchased and I love it!
