Product Description

Amazon.com Product Descriptio

Ideal for pet owners, and allergy sufferers, the bagless Eureka Altima boasts a HEPA filter that captures more than 99% of dust mites, pollen, and other allergens, as well as particles 15 times smaller than a human hair. This filtration is powered by a sturdy 12-amp motor, with an extra-wide 15-inch cleaning path and a spinning-edge brush that can vacuum right up to the edge of baseboards and furniture. The Altima eliminates the need to buy and change disposable bags, but unlike other bagless vacuums, many of which practically require re-vacuuming when you dump out the sucked-up debris, its easy-emptying dirt cup has no messy filter inside. Instead, the secondary filter is mounted on top, where it's easy to reach; it's also made out of foam that's both easy to wash and keeps its suction longer between cleans.

The Altima also comes loaded with tools to power cleaning challenges above floor level. Electrostatically charged to attract dust, a telescoping self-cleaning duster extends three feet to reach even cobwebbed ceilings, then collapses back to its original size. For corners, baseboards, couches, blinds, and even books, there's a crevice-cleaning wand, dusting brush, extension wands to add reach, and the hand-held Power Paw attachment with Riser Visor, whose powerful brushroll removes ground-in dirt and pet hair even from vertical surfaces like stairs and upholstery. Other thoughtful design touches include a no-tip design, clog-resistant stretch hose for use with the onboard tools, a spare brushroll belt, and an extra-long 30 foot power cord. The Altima measures 17 by 10-1/2 by 33-1/2 inches and weighs in at just over 19 pounds; it comes backed by a limited one-year warranty. --Mary Park

Couldn't ask for more July 16, 2006
By Bones
I looked for weeks for a cheap vacuum that would do a decent job around my apartment and suck up my dog's hair that's on the furniture. This one has exceeded my expectations! I got it at Costco for $90 and it came w/ an extra set of filters as a bonus. Costco is the way to go w/ appliances and electronics because you can return it ANY time w/ no questions asked. I will not be returning this any time soon!

The vacuum is light and easy to use. It has great suction and the edge cleaner to the right of the main brushes really gets the sides. It empties very easily and pulls all the dirt and dust into one ball for a very clean job. The filters are visible through clear plastic, so it's easy to see when they need to be cleaned. A simple rinse of the foam filter keeps the dust out very well!

My favorite feature in this vacuum is the powered brush attachment that comes with it. It works just like a normal vacuum brush and pulls dog hair and dust off anything. I used it in my car and it did great on the carpet in there too. The brush attachment is great for smooth surfaces because it captures all the dust and small pieces w/o scratching anything. It was great for the leather and plastic parts in my car. The duster brush that comes with it is useful, but not spectacular. It holds the dust well and cleans off easily w/ the flip of a switch.

Horrible purchase November 25, 2006
Do NOT buy this vacuum, unless you want to waste your money on something that throws all the dirt and dust back at your feet. I've had this vacuum for about 3 months now, religiously cleaned the filters, and it just belches dirt and dust everywhere it goes. One of the worst purchases I've made.

I have never regretted buying anything as much as this vacuum "cleaner". It excels only in moving around dirt and dust, it clogs and is rendered useless after only 1 use even though the dirt receptor is not even close to being filled. The duster and powerpaw attachments are a joke. I wish that 0 stars was an option. I kid you not that it is now in the dumptster where it belongs.

Do not get this if you value your money.
I think all that gave this vacuum cleaner wrote their reviews after a couple uses. Mine lost suction after a month. Cleaning the filter does not improve anything.
