Getting the Best Results

• This vacuum cleaner creates suction and contains a revolving brush roll. Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all parts of body away from openings and moving parts. Do not place vacuum cleaner on furniture or stairs as the brush roll may cause damage. Use extra care when cleaning on stairs. Place vacuum cleaner on floor with the handle in storage position while using attachments. Do not use without dust bag and filter in place. Remove hair and threads from brush roll periodically.

Product Accessories

Nested Crevice Tool and Extension Wand: Use for baseboards and corners. First, loosen the end of the hose. Grasp crevice tool and wand near ridges and pull apart. Turn the ridge end to center and push crevice tool into wand and place on end of hose.

Pros

- Easy to change bag. (I consider bagless worthless.)

- Much quiter than my previous Dirt Devil vacuum

- Cleans better, too

- Inexpensive (I paid $40 for a refurb)

- Most trusted and reliable brand

- Assembly instructions actually helpful

- Spinning brush does not touch floor when upright (so it doesn't mar the rug if it's left running)

- Reasonable cord length (not too long or short)

- Just three attachents (who ever uses 12 on-board attachments?)

- Light enough to carry up/down stairs

Cons

- It takes some effort to get the hose back in

- Headlight could be brighter

- Cord is not auto-rewinding

- Bags are smaller than Dirt Devil, though replacements are cheap

Eureka 4750A LightSpeed Upright Vacuum

THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE "EUREKA 4750A MAXIMA"!

What a pleasure to simply pull out the bag - not having to even touch it! For me, this feature was my FIRST/B-I-G "attention getter"! After owning/using 3 different Eureka BAGLESS models, I finally decided to return to one of their bagged models. The bagless Eurekas were powerful, of course (they were, after all, Eurekas); but when emptying them, I had to use both a mask and gloves - out on the patio; and, still at times this was enough to trigger an asthma attack - TOO MUCH DRAMA (AND S-O-O-O-O MESSY)!!!

This little easy to handle "LIGHTWEIGHT CHAMP" is CHEAP BUT POWERFUL - picks up well on CARPET AND BARE floors. (From bare floors it's picked up hair, bobby pins, paper scraps, Cheerios, paper clips, and dirt!) I, actually, find myself almost looking forward to "bag emptying time". What a difference! Hopefully, Eureka will continue making this (or an upgraded) model for many years to come. For just $50 or so, I will gladly purchase another one (or two or three) when needed. The 4750A meets my every expectation (and more) - very pleased with it's performance. I highly recommend it - especially if you are considering switching from the "BAGLESS NIGHTMARE"!!!

UPDATE (01/05/09):
I am both baffled by and sorry about the experiences of the "1 star reviewers". It's like reading about an entirely different vacuum. Perhaps they just got LEMONS! Nonetheless, it's been almost 2 years since my initial review; and, I continue to stand by it. My "Lightweight Champ" is still quite powerful, and I have NEVER experienced it blowing ANYTHING about.

A really good basic vacuum for a reasonable price. I got tired of replacing my expensive vacuums every year or so, and I decided to buy something less expensive. This one's great. The main downside is that it's a bit loud, but it works very well. The large wheels make it easy to maneuver too.

I agree that this vacuum does blow out the front, but it has enough suction that if you don't wait too long, it will suck it up before it can blow it too far away.

I noticed that after a few minutes of use, the belt area was starting to heat up, I read some replacement belt reviews so I'll probably go for the off brand replacement belt as I've had experience with thick belts before on other brand vacuums, my advice is to plan ahead for possible breakage since the suction is so strong, I can only imagine that the motor is spinning rather fast and the tension must be high as well to cause the plastic cover over the belt "area" to heat up after a few minutes.

OK, that's the precautions for the vacuum, now for a few more observations: Yes the hose does pop out of the hole behind the brush area, this is minor and indicative of the ease with which you can remove the hose to use it as a spot vacuum with the 3 attachments, just be mind-full of this and don't let it shy you away from buying one, the bag sealing "capsule" is unique and easy to use, I also spotted another feature of this vacuum, it sucks up most of my wife's long hair, most of my other vacuums usually wrap the hair around the brush before it can be sucked into the bag, and this one has a viewing window where you can eyeball all the junk being trapped inside the vacuum bag.

Of the many Vacs I've owned, this one is the easiest to use, works better than any I've had, is light weight enough to carry and move around and the bag change couldn't be easier. Noise level is low and as at least one other reviewer pointed out, a LOT quieter than the Dirt Devil. Tornado-type vacs are a mess and way too expensive. I've had mine for a year and I'm glad they're still available because I may buy one for a friend (usually you can't buy the same thing twice in America...ever notice that?) This little gem really is a bargain. One little flaw: it doesn't come with a standard 8 or 10" wide stair/upholstery attachment...just a little mini one, but you can buy the larger ones cheap. BUY THIS VAC!
