5.0 out of 5 stars Eureka 570B Cordless Vacuum, July 30, 2002

This review is from: Eureka 570B Cordless Boss Upright Vacuum (Kitchen)
This little vacuum is a workhorse! With 6 children, 4 dogs and one old, tempermental cat, there seems to be no end to the dirt and hair on the floors. This vac is so easy to use and empty that keeping the floors clean is a breeze.
I originally bought two other brands of cordless vacuums in an effort to keep up with just the kitchen floor dirt. But, they were either not powerful enough, didn't have a large enough dirt capacity, or they were cumbersome to use and empty; I ended up returning them to the store. The Eureka Boss 570B, however, was just what we needed.
The Boss is powerful enough to pick up hair and dirt from both hard floors and carpet, has a big, easy to empty dirt cup and is so easy to use that even the kids will grab it during the day and clean up.
I like the Boss so much, that I just bought two more to give as gifts to friends who have been wanting one since seeing mine.
The Boss 570B doesn't replace our big vacuum, (not with our Brood!), but it has replaced the broom, dust pan and dust mop.
Now, if it could just do the laundry..............!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Clean Sweep!, May 29, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Eureka 570B Cordless Boss Upright Vacuum (Kitchen)
We're cat people and with our band of banshees there is a daily distribution of fur and other evidence of their nocturnal activities. We've owned three other cordless vacs over the last 10 years and none compare to the pick-up power of this vacuum. Especially when it comes to picking up litter crumbs - the kind that hide in the carpet. It was always frustrating to have to hand clean the missed debris but with the EUREKA 570B it's a CLEAN SWEEP... This is the first Product review that we've written and that's because we really had to be pleased with (or hate) a product to merit a review.

After the first charge, we were so impressed with the cleaning of a small area we went ahead and did the whole house - 2000 sq ft on a single charge.

This is the ultimate cordless vac! It combines the convenience of a stick vac with the function of an upright vac.
First, you should know that I hate to clean, but I like a clean house. I'm a stay-at-home Mom with one toddler, two cats, and two dogs, and a messy husband. My house is VERY lived in, and it is just shy of 1500 square feet. The majority of which is hard wood floors, a kitchen which is rough slate, one 9x11 natural flat weave rug and one room with burber carpet.
I have been using this vac everyday since I got it. Like I said, I hate to clean, but I look forward to using this vacuum! It really has great suction, it rolls over all of my floors with ease, and the canister holds ALOT and is very easy to empty and clean! I don't have to stop and empty it after every room like I did with my broom vac. The battery lasts for my entire house with a little life left still! The telescopic handle actually does come in handy for storing and using on stairs.
I don't recommend this for your deep down cleaning, but if your looking for something that makes everyday pick ups easier, this is what you want. My house would be much messier if it weren't for this vac. Prior to this vac I was using the Eureka Boss Stick Vac, which was nice, but the battery didn't last as long, the filter was a pain, and it didn't roll as nice on my various floors.
This cordless vac is SOOO much more convenient in every way, and really leaves no excuse for vacuuming daily, because it takes all the things you dread out of the picture. It is lightweight, and no more stopping and unplugging and plugging in every room. WHAT A PAIN! Especially if all your outlets are babyproofed like ours are.

5.0 out of 5 stars Small, light, convenient, and surprisingly powerful, June 4, 2003
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Eureka 570B Cordless Boss Upright Vacuum (Kitchen)
Generally speaking, I wholeheartedly agree with the favorable reviews of this little vacuum. As long as you can manage your cleanups within the available battery power, you're going to be very pleased. It really sucks.

However, even though I gave this five stars, it's rounded up from 4.6 because of two minor flaws. First is the battery. Eureka should have designed in about 50% more capacity with a flatter discharge profile (speed remains stable throughout the discharge cycle), which they could have done by using NiMH cells instead of the NiCads they chose. I'm hoping at some point in the near future they'll fix this and offer a NiMH battery upgrade. As it is, you can buy extra NiCad battery packs (about $30) for greater run time. If you plan more than about 8-10 minutes of use, you're going to need at least one additional battery. And don't forget that the battery recharge is, um, leisurely, as in 10-12 hours. I'd have happily paid the extra $5 on the retail price that a better battery would have involved.

Second gripe is the bungled handle ergonomics. Take a good look at the picture. The axis of the part of the handle you grasp is oriented in the the same direction as the force you apply to it, plus the handle is smooth plastic. Ideally, you'd want it oriented somewhere between your natural hand posture and perpendicular to the direction of applied force and with a surface texture more suited to back-and-forth motion. Basically it could be somewhat more comfortable to use than it is. The saving grace is that the device is so light, with such short runtime, that you won't get blisters or carpal tunnel regardless of how you have to grab the handle.

On balance, however, the pluses *far* outweigh the minuses, and I'd buy this again without hesitation.

5.0 out of 5 stars No apologies needed, April 23, 2003

My wife thought I was crazy when this sucker arrived (unfortunately, it comes in a Eureka box instead of a brown wrapper). After all, I've already got a Dustbuster, an electric broom, and a Black and Decker handvac, so if it's a gadget costing less than a hundred bucks, I'm likely to be the next in line. On the other hand, I was fighting a losing battle in a cramped office with 3 cats, a litter box, and a carpet starting to feel like beach property.

The idea of a superior but convenient machine presented itself when I saw an ad for the highly promoted Shark cordless vacuum, with it's cute 4 little wheels and clever conversion features. But some of the reviews of the latter product (suggesting that the 4 wheels are less than essential on this lightweight novelty) along with the reputation of Eureka for delivering maximum quality at a value price steered me to this slightly heavier and more pedestrian-looking cleaner instead of the Shark.

And now it seems like a complete no-brainer--the easiest, quickest, and best small vacuum I've ever owned. I'm walking on a rug once again, and I suspect my wife is secretly envying my purchase. ( I can't attest to the lasting power of the electrical charge because if it took me more than 15 minutes to vacuum my environs, I'd probably opt for the beach.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great vacuum at a great price, September 8, 2003

After doing some research on Amazon.com and wading through all of the customer reviews, buying this vacuum was a no-brainer. I am completely satisfied with my purchase of the vacuum. I have an apartment that is about 650 square feet and I have no problem getting the whole place vacuumed using the charged battery. The vacuum has great suction power and I use it on both my carpets and tiled floor. I love not having to fuss with vacuum bags - and it is actually pretty neat to look in the clear cup at all the dust and dirt that gets picked up. The vacuum is incredibly light and has a handle that slides down which makes it easy to store.

I would definitely recommend this vacuum if you live in an apartment or if you don't have much carpet to vacuum. I think this makes a great 'starter' vacuum and would be a great choice for college students. I really can't think of anything bad to say about this product, and just look at the price - you can't go wrong.

5.0 out of 5 stars An amazing vac, and cordless to boot!, March 22, 2003

I used to own a Eureka upright that was heavy, loud, and the cord was always in the wrong place no matter what. I live in a studio apartment but I thought I needed a "big" vac to keep the place clean. I read the other reviews and decided to buy the Cordless Boss, and I'm glad I did! I dumped my big/hot/loud vac, the Cordless Boss actually cleans BETTER than the huge monstrosity, AND being cordless and light I tend to spend more time cleaning instead of rushing through (which may account for the better cleaning). I keep tropical fish, and this (a) doesn't disturb the fish (b) cleans up spilled food no problem and (c) I don't have to search for an open plug. Oh, it cleans closer to the edge than the bigger vac did as well. Cleans easy, too, and no bags to run out of in the middle of a cleaning job. It's also easy to store, fits nicely in my microscopic closet. I wish I could find something bad to say, but I can't..

5.0 out of 5 stars Why not a 10 Star Rating?, February 10, 2004

This is probably the best vacuum cleaner on the market for the money. The only reason I don't say IS THE BEST is because we haven't tried all of them, but the Eureka 570B had the best customer ratings I could find on Amazon when we got it last year. My wife just loves it, uses it every single day and hasn't used the Electrolux or Hoover sense she got it. It picks up fine cat litter from our tile floor and vacuums the carpet like equally well. You only have to make sure to keep the filter and the power brush clean. If you do that, you will find this to be the easiest vacuum cleaner you'll ever use. In over six months use it has given NO problems at all and the only reason it doesn't get a 10 star rating is because Amazon only has a 5 star rating system. We bought 3 more of these for X-mass presents and the review from the recipients were the same as ours. They just love it too. FYI....tried to find them for x-mass elsewhere because Amazon was backordering them at that time and came to realize Amazon has a lock on this item and we couldn't find it anywhere else online. Hope this info helps.

This is one of the best products I have ever purchased. It is handy, lightweight, and in my case has actually outperformed what the manufacturer claims it will do. I have a golden retriever and four cats, and therefore, lots and lots of hair and fur. I use the Boss every morning in the areas inhabited by the dog and cats - approximately 1400 square feet. It does an excellent job of picking up the hair and fur on carpet, wood and tile floors. I even use it on the comforter on my bed where the cats sleep. Because it is so lightweight and easy to use, it works well on stairs too. I bought my first one about a year ago and have since purchased one for the downstairs area, one for my parents, one for a friend, and I am now in the process of purchasing another one for our vacation home. I can't say enough good about it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended for small cleanup jobs, November 9, 2003

This review is from: Eureka 570B Cordless Boss Upright Vacuum (Kitchen)
This is a great little vacuum. I have two cats and I keep the litter box in my bathroom, but the tracked litter demands almost daily vacuuming--I tried a broom and dustpan and it just doesn't quite do the trick. Rather than break out the big vacuum that I use for the carpeting, I keep this little vac plugged in an out of the way corner so that it stays charged. It picks up the litter perfectly and has solved my problem of icky tracked litter sticking to my damp feet when I get out of the shower. The carpet brush is probably not strictly necessary for me but I've found myself using it for little pick-ups of debris on the carpet as well and it works really well.

The suction on this little vacuum is really powerful! I used to have a Euro-pro Shark but I hated it--the suction was terrible, it was horribly noisy, and half the time I would vacuum stuff up and it would fall right back out of the dust cup as soon as I turned the vacuum off! This Eureka is just great in comparison.
