3.0 out of 5 stars Good vaccuum but not perfect
My family has owned three cordless stick vacs (Electrolux, Eureka and Hoover brands) and the Electrolux Pronto is the best. The Hoover was light and had great mobility but suction was poor, not much better than a carpet sweeper. Eureka had much better suction and good battery life but could not fit into tight places. Electrolux Pronto has the best of everything with...

This review is from: Electrolux Cordless Quick-Up Clean (Kitchen)
We bought this when our first child learned to crawl and we had to clean crumbs, etc off the floor before she ate them. Now we're again finding it indispensable for number two and three (now ages 1, 3, and 5)

I like it for:

1) Handle installs and removes quickly and easily.
2) vacuum hangs easy on the charger - some other ones we've had are tricky to pop into the charger correctly if you want it to be installed vertically.
3) Power roller bar - really sucks up those cheerios quickly, even on hard floors.
4) Easily removable battery - charger has a second battery charging slot so you can swap out.

When I bought this the cashier at Target told me that this was what they used to clean up spills in the store. It's now almost 3 years old and the battery is starting to show it's age (It's easily removable so I'll be buying a spare soon)

UPDATE: The original battery is still going strong. To eliminate the "Memory" I just ran down the battery between charges rather than keeping it on the charger "topping off" all the time. Works great now, as good as new!

UPDATE2 - after 5-1/2 years the original battery is finally dead. OEM replacement part cost me $19.99 including shipping, good as new!!!!

Update 3 - the second battery only lasted about 2 years. I guess I got lucky on the first. Just ordered a replacement tonight. Yes, this is an update on a product I bought over 7 years ago, no I don't have any interest in your buying one or not.

Update 4 - on a recent trip to Montrose Airport in Colorado, I noticed that they had a large cart of these - (at least they looked identical except for the color) My assumption? These are used by the staff to clean commercial airliners, at least at one airport.

TIP: When emptying I find it handy to use a full size vacuum cleaner to get the filter extra clean.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Cordless Vac for Light Cleaning, February 5, 2009
By
I<3Huskies (New Orleans, LA) - See all my reviews
After reading the reviews on various stick vacs, I decided to go with this one as suggested by one reviewer. I am not disappointed. I bought it to pick up dog fur off my hardwood floors in between cleaning my house with the full size vac. It was worth every penny. Unlike some others, this vac has a roller brush that you can turn on/off so its great on both hardwood floors and carpet. And when I clean up the dog fur off my floors it doesn't blow it around like some other stick vacs I have tried, it actually picks it up! In addition, the quick up serves as a handvac, which is nice for cleaning up the furniture.

The only flaw I've found is that the dust cup is a little messy to empty. But to avoid this, after I vacuum I just empty it outside in my garbage can, and bang it against the side of the garbage can a few times to remove the remaining dust in the filter. This is the same for any bagless vac.

Let me note, this vac is for LIGHT CLEANING ONLY! Its not going to clean your whole house. Also it will not pick up larger objects like large chunk dog food, it just wasn't made for that. But if you want this vac to tidy up without having to drag out the big vac, this is the one.

Update:
After about 9 months of daily use this stick vac is still going strong. The battery life is still great, and haven't had any problems. However I would suggesting actually washing the filter cup every month or two. I usually just soak it in some liquid dish soap, rinse and let air dry, and the filter is back to brand new.

5.0 out of 5 stars Word of caution, April 21, 2009
I've researched cordless stick vacs and finally decided on this one. I just bought it a Target for [...] bucks. If you've done your due diligence and have looked at reviews of the Eureka Quick Up vacuums, know that this particular model only has one battery. Replacement batteries will run you 20 dollars and up. Earlier Eureka Quick Up models, at roughly the same price, came with two batteries.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Cordless Vac; Love It!!!, October 13, 2007
Bought this cordless vac about 2 months ago and I just LOVE it. Was very pleased with everything about it. The battery holds a great charge and allows me to vacuum my entire house and it's still going (8 rooms + bath). The power is strong enough to pick up dog hair with ease and everything else as well. Does a good job on throw rugs, and is very light-weight as well. I am handicapped and cannot handle big vacs at all; this one is a breeze to use. The dirt cup is quite large for a cordless and is easy to empty. The only negative is that you have to be sure the filter is in tight before replacing the dirt cup; otherwise it won't close tight. I also like the handle which comes off with the push of a button; very easy to do. The brush (for carpet) is rather spread out and very easy to remove hair and threads. I simply can't say enough about this cordless vacuum; it is so much more than I'd hoped for in a cordless. The machine I bought came with an extra battery also, but I've yet to charge the extra one. Overall, my hat goes off to Eureka for making a versatile, lightweight cordless that actually 'works'. (I have only one room that is thinly carpeted so I can't say how it would work on thicker carpeting, but it works great on my one room).

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous little vacuum!, June 22, 2009

T. Tachick (Northeast Wisconsin) - See all my reviews
I have two dogs in my house, this vacuum is great due to being battery operated. I can give my home (vinyl flooring) a quick vacuuming and get up the dirt and sand and dog hair quickly and easily.
It is light-weight and being in a wheelchair it makes cleaning my floors a cinch!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good vaccuum but not perfect, December 8, 2007
My family has owned three cordless stick vacs (Electrolux, Eureka and Hoover brands) and the Electrolux Pronto is the best. The Hoover was light and had great mobility but suction was poor, not much better than a carpet sweeper. Eureka had much better suction and good battery life but could not fit into tight places. Electrolux Pronto has the best of everything with good suction, enough battery life to sweep up one floor of our house. The best feature is the removable hand vac - we can clean up between our couch cusions or along floor trim. We have two kids (3y.o. and 1y.o.) and this keeps all the crumbs and hair off the floor, we use it at least once per day. We bring out the canister vac for whole-house cleaning but the Electrolux Pronto cordless helps us keep the house neat on a day to day basis.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this for quick pet hair pickups on hardwoods/tile, November 12, 2007
I just have to add my review of this great product. I bought it to quickly and cordlessly clean up all the pet hair balls that accumulate on our hardwood and tile floors. Sure, it was relatively easy to get the real vac out, but plugs, and cords and hoses later...it was annoying for a quick job. I got this to just quickly vac up those spots you always see and cant do much about at the time you see them. It easily picks up all my nasty dog hair balls that hang out in the corners of the room, and the charge has lasted more than 15 minutes each time I've used it (more than enough time to vac up all the spots I needed to). I don't use it on carpet, and the only downside I can see so far is that some hair gets caught on the brush roller that you will eventually have to clean out. Other than that, the rechargeability and good suction make it a winner in my house!

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW...something that actually WORKS!, December 29, 2007
I have been looking for the perfect handheld vacuum for the past 8 years (ever since we started to have kids) this one is not 100% perfect...but it is sure darn close!

After 3 kids (ages 8,5,4) all had lunchables for lunch, I grabbed the Eureka and went to work!

It picked up everything except a whole chip. I just brought the eureka on top of it, broke it into pieces and no issues!

I have tile flooring in the kitchen and use it on the 'carpet' mode as that engages the brushes.

The only comment I have is that the stock should be a little longer. I am 5'11" and had to lean over a bit to get to the end of the handle.

Otherwise for the price, there is NOTHING better!

4.0 out of 5 stars A good cordless vac 2/24/10, February 24, 2010
By
I have been looking for a cordless, lightweight vacuum for "in between" cleanings on my tile floors in the kitchen, utility room and pretty much 80% of my downstairs.
THIS IS IT. I have used the swiffer vac for 2 years. Having to buy a new one each year. I liked the swiffer but the battery life is so bad both per use AND overall over time.
I read reviews on the Eureka Quick up but could't find one to try first. Well last week I found one charged at Sears. It does just what I need and more. I have a very sheddy Lab and 3 other short hair dogs. The suction is great for pet hair balls, and doesn't push the hair away from the vacuum on tile. It gets the dust and light dirt bought in from outside, the little spiders and other pests, yuck ... gone!
it does surprisingly well on throw rugs also. I am able to vacuum my entire 1600sf area downstairs with several throw rugs.
It is a bit messy to get the dust out, but worth while. I put it in a plastic grocery bag and shake well.
The plastic wheels do make a litle bit of noise on tile, be sure to wipe them down and also remove the hair and strings that wrap around the beater brush.
I don't think you will be disappointed, I am seriously considering getting a spare.
Hope this helps others wondering if this works. IT DOES.

5.0 out of 5 stars Over two years and still love it, January 15, 2008
By
I bought this little gem well over two years ago for quick pickups when I had a small apartment that was fully carpeted. I planned to use it between weekly vacuuming with my canister/beater bar unit. Well, I was wrong. This little machine works so well I all but quit using my big vacuum. You wouldn't BELIEVE how much dirt it picks up! Now I live in a larger condo with hardwood floors, and I still find myself reaching for this wonderful little vacuum for my area rugs and even for vacuuming of the hardwood and tile. As mentioned by another reviewer, the filter is a bit tricky to fit in, but it's not a significant problem. The beater bar can be switched off, but the brushes are soft and won't scratch your hard surface floors if you leave them running -- it definitely works best with the beater bar running. I have two batteries but have never had to switch them out to finish a job. It slips on and off the charger easily and works great on stairs. This is one of the best home products I've ever purchased -- a great value for the money.
