This Eureka airspeed is very powerful even though its super lightweight. It definitely does have an airspeed technology like Ive never seen or felt or experienced before. It really sucks the carpet with super power and glides forward on its own.
Im going to tell a whole bunch of people about this wonderful vacuum. My carpet never looked so good. It feels softer and looks newer and cleaner. I think I will buy one for my mom.
One thing I noticed is that this vacuum must be spitting out small dust particles, even though I cant smell any dust or see it happening, its dusted all over the sides of the vacuum around the base. But this hasn't seemed to bother me too much. I havent tried cleaning the washable filter yet so I cant comment on that.
This vacuum is worth the money. I hope it holds up for at least a few years. Im happy to have super clean carpets.
Also, it is the quietest vacuum I have ever owned. I am not bothered buy the sound like I was all my other vacuums.
The Airspeed One is the compact version of the Eureka Airspeed product line. If you've read my other reviews, you'd know I'm a huge fan of Eureka. Their motors & suction are just as good Dyson, no joke.
The Airspeed One is only 10 amps (not 12), and it's not "lossless suction" (it has a cheap foam filter that can clog the whole works). But the motor & suction are still excellent, almost on par with the other Airspeed products, at about half the weight & half the price.
BUT... the Airspeed One has so many other flaws I do not recommend it.
It is cheaply made. They cut every corner possible. The handle & canister fall out easily. I'm constantly reassembling it. There is no upright lock position (the thing is falling over *all* the time). The parts are paper-thin plastic & break easily. The hose is very short & not stretch - you can't do the stairs, the ceiling fan, etc. The cord is too short. This is such a step backwards for Eureka, it just makes vacuuming a horrible chore.
Not to worry. There are 2 options I urge you to consider before making your decision.
The first is the Bissell PowerForce Compact. It has a little less suction than the Airspeed One (only 7 amps), but fewer problems. So I consider it a step up...and it's cheaper! Today, both the Airspeed One and the Bissell PowerForce Compact are $53 on Amazon, but the Bissell is only $39 at Walmart! That's 20% less for a more reliable machine.
However in my opinion the much better choice is the Eureka upgrade - the AirSpeed One "Turbo". It solves most of the problems I mentioned.Read more ›
Assembly is pretty easy, although seeing the many small pieces fall out of the box was initially daunting. Follow the included instructions and wait for the "snap" to the base and the dust cup. But my vacuum does not have a tight seal between the cup and the hose. This doesn't stop it from sucking up powerfully, but I wonder if this is why the machine is so loud? And this despite all the pieces "snapping" into place. I'm sure dust can escape through the small opening.
This is an all-plastic device, which explains the light weight. I'm just concerned about the durability now. While this does an excellent job removing cat and dog fur from our carpets, it's also a tad messy to empty and awkward to push with the hose not quite secure to the frame.
For the price, you really do get a lot of bang for your buck. It is a bit of a pain to remove the dust cup and reattach it but definitely not a deal breaker. Any down side to this vacuum is more than made up for by the insane suction power that really amazed me.
I was so amazed by how much cat fur and other icky stuff I picked up from vacuuming the hall and part of the dining area that I had to show a couple of my neighbors. And my neighbors, who also have cats, were impressed enough to asked to come into my apartment and take a look at my vacuum and try it out.
Actually, I'm impressed by it. For the price and how flimsy it looks I really didn't expect the suction power that it has to get the job done. And very well done if I may say so. This may not be the best high tech looking vacuum but, boy does this thing have powerful suction! Eureka did the right thing by skimping on looks and putting it all on power.
It's perfect for smaller living spaces like apartments and mobile homes. And it's perfect for people without a lot of strength since it only weighs 9 lbs., moves backs and forth quite easily (You can adjust the height to make it easier to use while still getting the job done well), and is easier to carry from place to place than any other vacuum I've ever owned (outside of a hand vac).
