Book Description

Amazing Questions and Answers about the Who, What, When, Where, Why and How of Canadian Invention

Was that really invented in Canada!?

This informative and fun-filled quiz book offers everything you ever wanted to know about the world of Canadian invention.

Eureka, eh? not only features hundreds of challenging brain-twisting questions about the who and what of Canadian discovery, it also provides hundreds of descriptive answers that bring the world of Canadian inventions to life.

Which of these sweet treats is not considered a Canadian creation:
a) Nanaimo Bars b) Butter Tarts c) Eskimo Pie or d) Beaver Tails?

(c) The Eskimo Pie was invented by American Charles Nelson in Iowa, 1920.
- Nanaimo Bars first appeared in cookbooks in the 1950s and take their name from their birthplace on Vancouver Island.
- Butter tarts were likely a staple of pioneer baking and seem to have stayed north of the US border.
- Beaver Tails, rounds of sweet dough stretched flat, deep-fried and sprinkled with assorted toppings, are indigenous to Ottawa, where they have become a favourite snack for visitors to the world’s longest skating rink, the Rideau Canal.
