4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Choice
This sleeping bag strikes the balance between cost and quality. I've slept snug as a bug in many different setting in this pack, from just under freezing to about 65F. The fleece pillow pocket is great for a folded up jacket, and the thermometer on the zipper is a nice touch. It's lightweight and compactable, perfect for backpacking. I plan on using it into the spring and...

1.0 out of 5 stars Really a 35-degree bag
Eureka Cimarron 15 degree bag is a nice cut, design and comfort bag. The issue is in meeting the 15 degree specification. I specifically bought this bag for early spring and mid to late fall camping/treking. Recently in the Adirondack's I hit a few nights of frost, first night was a pretty hard frost which required longjohns, hiking socks and a skull cap to get through...

Eureka Cimarron 15 degree bag is a nice cut, design and comfort bag. The issue is in meeting the 15 degree specification. I specifically bought this bag for early spring and mid to late fall camping/treking. Recently in the Adirondack's I hit a few nights of frost, first night was a pretty hard frost which required longjohns, hiking socks and a skull cap to get through the night without shivering my tail off. Spent a couple more weeks treking and temperatures warmed so that I feel the bag may offer comfort to about 35 degrees at best. To rate it a 3 season bag is really stretching it.

Bought this sleeping bag for a backpacking trip along the Alabama Pinhoti trail. It worked beautifully for the sub-50-degree weather. I'm a 5'9"/190lbs man, and I fit comfortably in the regular-sized bag (with 6"-8" of extra length). There's just enough room in the width for me to roll over, but not much more than that -- of course, mummy bags like this aren't intended to be (nor should they be) too roomy.

It's not the lightest bag out there, nor the most compact. You could probably find a North Face, Marmot, or Mountain Hardwear bag that would certainly outperform this sleeping bag. -But, for the price, this bag is very hard to beat. Eureka makes good, quality products (I own a $300 Eureka tent that lives up to it's price), and this bag met up to the quality I've come to expect from Eureka.

If you're expecting actual 15-degree weather, you might look into a warmer bag -- this one will certainly keep you from freezing at those temps, but it likely won't keep you all warm & cozy.

Would I recommend this bag to a backpacker on a budget? Most definitely. :-)

3.0 out of 5 stars not a long term investment, June 1, 2010

I bought one of these in April 2007 for my son who was then 10. In the past few months, the fabric has begun to fall apart by the seams. Other than that, he's been happy with it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice bag but heavy, March 28, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Just got back from a trip to Oaklahoma with this bag. Temps were forcast to be in the 50's at night but the second night dropped into the high 30's, I was nice a warm all night. The fleece type pillow pocket works great to stuff a fleece or jacket under it, don't need to wear them in this bag. Not 5 stars because the bag is heavy to carry but the compression bag helps bring it down to a managable size. May buy another one for my son.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Summer/early fall bag, December 24, 2010

Bought this for DS for scouts. It's light, has a pocket in the front inside which is big enough for everything he wants to keep close, and zippers function well. He did state that two nights back in September he was camping and was freezing cold both nights. They were in the foothills, but the temp stayed above freezing both nights.

Bought this sleeping bag for a Cub Scout camp out I went on with my son, and I must say it performed just the way they say it would. Bag was warm and comfortable and WARM. I am 6'2" 250 lbs and had no problems using it. Found this product on Eureka's own website for much more money as well. Worked well for what we will be doing, so although it might not be for everyone, it works for me.

3.0 out of 5 stars warm but huge, July 20, 2008
This sleeping bag is warm when I used it in yellow stone park. I will say at lease it is good for using in 30 degree. The only problem is that it is really big to restore. It's ok with people who carries it with vehicle but hiking backpack.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not for skinny guys, January 6, 2012

This review is from: Eureka! Cimarron 15-Degree Mummy Sleeping Bag (Sports)
I have taken this sleeping bag out on 6 or so weekend trips typically experiencing weather at or slightly above freezing. The temperature rating is closer to the mid 30's and not 15 degrees. I'm 6'3", 195 pounds and I have too much room in the sleeping bag. It is about 5" too long and I swim inside it. This is probably the biggest reason it stays chilly at night.
The construction has been good until recently where the zipper teeth dislocated in the middle of the bag. Not a bad bag for the price though.

2.0 out of 5 stars Bulky, June 9, 2008
I ordered this bag hoping it would compress easily to a size small enough to fit in my hiking pack. I was a little disappointed with the bulky size. It was also pretty heavy. I also had some problems with the zipper sticking and the thermometer was missing from the zipper. This bag never made it to a campsite- I sent it back to Amazon yesterday. I am sure it would have been a warm bag, but I spent the extra money to get an ultra lightweight bag that fits into a well-designed compression sack.
