GREAT,

I live with four long haired dogs, and have found most vacuums to be less than adequate. I bought the Eureka C5712 a few months ago and have been VERY happy with it. It is powerful, light for its size, and has great suction. I have gone through many vacuums, and I like this one the best. It has no headlight on it, which I found distracting more than anything else.

I have been looking for a replacement for my Bissel that was terrible. Always had Eurekas before and decided to look at them again. I wanted a bagged vacuum. I looked at the Eureka home vacs, not quite what I wanted. Then I looked at the commercial vacs and most of them although very powerful, didn't come with any attachments at all.
Then I saw the Eureka C5712A. PROS: Commercial suction power but with all the attributes and attachments one would use at home. The only difference is they actually work!! The suction power from the hoses and attachments is similar to a shop vac. I love this machine! It's well made, simple construction, basic maintenance, takes bags, and it's 50% quieter than the Bissel. It also cleans bare floors. CONS: Inside parts mostly plastic but simple and sturdy. Not very attractive.

I tried several high end name brand vacuums and all were a disappointment! This vacuum is amazing. I have very plush hard to clean carpets and they have never been cleaner.
The vacuum is a bit heavy and harder to push than others I tried, however you need not run it over the same spot more than once. I vacuum more often now (hard to imagine I know). The "shock" in the handle as one reviewer mentions, I think is static. Try setting your carpet-pile dial a bit higher. Every vacuum I've had worth its salt has given me static shocks when vacuuming. I think it is the plush carpet and the beaters. I hate bag-less vacuums, so this bagged model is great for me. I don't need to see the dirt again thanks! I ordered vacuum bags on line in bulk for a better price-didn't see the bags in my local dept. stores. This vacuum was half the price of the one I replaced and 10 times the vacuum!

I just received this from Amazon. Had to hook it up and try it. First impressions - from a guy.... this is a solid machine. No frills. LONG power cord. LONG easy to detach hose. Good suction. BIG HEPA Filter.
Most importantly for me (since I do the vacuuming in the house) it does not feel like I am going to break it. I was a little concerned that it would be tough to push. On the contrary, it felt like it was motorized. I have since lowed the beater bar (for low carpets) and it is not AS easy - but about the same as all the others I tried. As I say, I did try some others in some big box retailers. Every vacuum I picked up felt cheap. I did however, have a chance to pick up a Riccar (sp?). That did not feel cheap - nor was it - at $600+. I picked this commercial Eureka C5712A on Amazon Warehouse for $165. That's good enough for me... The one thing I wish it had was a beater brush for the end of the hose for doing stairs. I had to order off the eureka site a "furniture" tool that will have to suffice... Oh yeah, and as one other reviewer pointed out, it's not great looking. (Thatt's just one more thing I like about it ;-) I hope you found this useful. I know I get a lot of value from all of you who post your feedback. Thanks!

Boy does this vacuum suck! Very powerful. the suction through the hose is outrageous! long cord too. and it has a bag; what a mess those bagless vacuums are.

Buying a vacuum is an investment. Kinda like a bed or car. You are gonna use it everyday, so you want to make the right choice without breaking the bank. We had used canisters for the past 15 years, both Kenmore. We have a dozen pets and a couple kids. This thing works great. I do find the hose and attachments to be a bit clumsy, but I haven't used an upright for a decade and a 1/2. All else is good...REAL good. Couldn't be happier with this purchase. Our carpet looks great!

Great Vacuum!! Almost Perfect,

This vacuum has incredible suction and is quiet due to the commercial motor, has an extra long cord and is not too heavy considering its power. The only thing that would make it better would be a shut-off for the carpet roller for when you are vacuuming bare floors.

This item was purchased Dec 2010, it was out of commission by the new year. After warranty service it still does not work properly. We have usually had no problem with Eureka vacuums, but at half the cost stay with a Eureka Boss non commercial
grade. The floor release switch does not work properly and the overall vacuuming efficiency is poor. It is mostly plastic, relatively heavy and poorly designed.

REAL HEPA. Most other HEPA is CRAP,

So far so good. This vacuum seems like the real deal without having to pay $600 for a Miele. Bang for the buck and performing as expected earns this vacuum 5 stars. I first purchased a Hoover platinum series upright with HEPA filtration, but returned it when it literally started spewing dust from its supposedly HEPA filtered innards. Here's the thing about HEPA vacuums. A claim of HEPA filtration only applies to the filter itself. So if they taped a HEPA filter to the handle, they can call it a HEPA vacuum. And for most vacuums, their HEPA filter is useless because of all the unsealed paths that dust can escape or even pour through. The only way to really test a unit's filtration ability is with a $5000 laser particle counter. But a quick test is to look at the exhaust under bright sunlight (you know, the kind where you can usually see dust particles floating in the air). This vacuum passes that basic test. It uses a hard plastic sealed compartment with rubber gaskets to seal in the bag and keep stray dust from escaping back into the air. It uses electrostatic filtration bags, which is better than a standard paper bag. Then on top of that it has a HEPA filter cartridge to further filter the air. The Carpet And Rug Institute rates this vacuum as "Green Label Certified" for cleaning and filtration capabilities. I would only buy a vacuum if it's on their commercial or residential Green Label list.

This vacuum is perfect for my needs. I have it for home use, not commercial. I thought after going through 3 vacuums in 5 years, that I needed something that can hold up with all of the pet hair I have. This vacuum has great suction and lifts pet hair I didn't know was laying around. I had a bagless vacuum and was cleaning it out with each room. Dust would fly and it didn't hold very much. This vacuum has solved all of that! The HEPA filters and disposal bag keep the dirt where I want it, not back into the room. The cord is long enough to reach my entire house without having to change plugs, and the extension tool reaches my 10 foot ceilings to get rid of pesky cobwebs. I've only had it a week but can already tell a difference in my dust level.
